Quarterly News & Updates
from Kansas SHRM
Greetings my Kansas SHRM friends!

I hope you all had a fantastic summer and are all geared up for our upcoming Kansas SHRM State Conference: Play Ball with HR! Our conference committee has been busy preparing a top-notch conference for you with inspiring speakers, exhibitors to help with your HR needs, lots of recertification credits, and networking opportunities galore! If you are not signed up yet, there is still time - I hope you will consider joining us! Please visit http://2017.ksshrm.org/ for more information. If you are signed up, I look forward to seeing you there! Oh, and don't forget to wear your favorite sports attire because we're going casual this year in keeping with our theme!
:)

In addition to the conference - your Kansas SHRM volunteer leaders and peers have kept busy with some exciting organizational development projects. On June 2, we had 17 Kansas SHRM members meet in Salina to do a strategic planning workshop for the Kansas SHRM State Council. I appreciate everyone who was able to make it to this crucial event this year and I'm excited about the outcomes of the workshop, which include our Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Strategic Initiatives. Check them out below!

Mission
Connecting the HR Community through Leadership, Education, and Advocacy

Vision
Leading the advancement of the HR professional and driving positive change at the national, state, and local levels

Strategic Initiatives

  1. Grow and Increase Awareness of the Kansas State Council of SHRM (Branding)
  2. Develop and Conduct a Needs Assessment (of how the Council can best support the Chapters)
  3. Develop and Implement a Leadership Development Program for HR Professionals in Kansas
We will be working hard to make progress on these initiatives over the next year so stay tuned for updates!

I hope to see you all at the conference next week!

Kansas SHRM Director
Are you SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP Certified?

If so, please consider recertifying this year.  Your recertification cycle will remain the same, but it allows you to get it done and out of the way so you don't have to worry about it next year.  If you're a SHRM member the recertification cost is $100, for non-SHRM members the cost is $150.

Are you thinking about becoming HR Certified?
Do you have questions regarding which certification to do?  HRCI vs SHRM?  What is the process for both?  What level should you do?  What are the costs to certify?  Please join us at the State SHRM conference on Thursday, September 21 at 7:15am for an energetic panel discussion on the benefits of HR Certification.

If you have any questions about certification or recertification please feel welcome to contact:
