The Story

"The Story" Sermon Series
Begins This Week
Here at La Jolla Pres., we want to see lives transformed through a relationship with Jesus. One way we witness that is by sharing God's Story, and equipping you to share His story as well. To help accomplish this on September 17th we will begin a 31week series called "The Story" to help guide us through the Bible and experience God's word in its entirety.

The Sunday sermons, youth and children's ministries, book study groups, and family groups will all be focusing on the same passages each week.

Over these 31 weeks we'll explore God's Story, hear Your Story, and together reveal Our Story.

You can purchase the hard cover book from the church office for $10, or buy it online here. There is also a Kindle version available here, or it's available as an audio book here.

Please read Chapter 1 (pages 1-12) before September 17th.

Mission Partner Highlight

San Diego Military Outreach Ministries' (SDMOM)
SDMOM is a nondenominational organization, guided by Christian values, whose mission it is to provide help with some basic needs, as well as hold events that enhance the quality of life, for all military junior enlisted families (E5 and below) living in San Diego County.

Moment of Mission Stories
Our help gives these families a hand-up during tight times allowing them to stretch their paychecks and cover their other expenses. We also are there for emergency situations to aid a family struggling with bigger challenges. Below are just 2 recent stories where SDMOM was able to help this year.

Story 1 - A Navy family contacted SDMOMs after a referral from their Chief at Naval Base San Diego and explained that they had recently relocated to San Diego and where awaiting housing when their car broke down and needed immediate repair. This expense took away from their budget for a crib for their first child. SDMOM provided a new crib and mattress as well as a layette bag for this child.

Story 2 - We were made aware of a Marine family with three children that fell on financial hardship when a second child was diagnosed with heart problems. This caused the mother to have to stop working due to the many trips to Naval Hospital for medical care. SDMOM's was able to provide 3 gas gift cards and 4 food bags to help ease some of the financial strain.

La Jolla Presbyterian has been a big supporter of SDMOM and we appreciate all that you have done over the years. It is support like yours that is helping us grow our support to the junior military families.
