Principal's Message
Dear Murwood Families,
Thanks to our generous PTA, we are back to enjoying our Soul Shoppe assemblies. Our students worked with Jared on their first lesson, "Checking In," during which they learned emotional self awareness and self-management skills. Through storytelling, Jared explained how one child's daily frustrations led to a "full balloon," and how that affected everyone around her. Our students learned how to check-in with their feelings and ask for what they need by creating an "I Message," and healthy strategies to empty their balloon. Click on this link to discuss this lesson with your child and learn the language of Soul Shoppe. It really helps children when we all use the same language.
Please join us for coffee with Superintendent Morgan this Friday in the Murwood Library. Mrs. Morgan welcomes your questions and will bring you up to date on happenings in the district.
Have you joined our PTA? This year, our teachers will be guest speaking at PTA meetings. This Tuesday, September 19, our Fifth Grade teachers, Kevin King and Colleen Wolff, will be talking about the educational experience of Outdoor Education at Camp Loma Mar. Want to know how your child will spend their day in the outdoor classroom and how that will translate into continued learning when they return to school? Come to the Murwood Library at 7 PM on Tuesday. We will also be collecting donations for the trip. This year's suggested amount is $360.

Murwood Families -
By now, I am sure you are all settled into a routine and your children are having a great time learning! Please mark your calendar for our first PTA meeting next Tuesday, September 19th in the Library. You will get to learn about the budget, our calendar of events and much more!
We are still in need of a web master. So if you are
technologically savvy, we have a job for you and it's only about 1-2 hours per week updating our website
So many great opportunities available to get involved and make a difference for our kids!

Walking Club Volunteers Needed
We need volunteers to mark cards as the students walk laps around the track. The students can earn rewards as they meet some milestones. This program started 12 years ago and it is one of the children's favorite programs here at Murwood.

After School Enrichment
After School Enrichment classes will be starting soon! This is a last reminder to turn in your child's waiver to the office. Without a waiver, NOBODY can participate. There is still available space in some classes so contact the ASE vendor ASAP to sign up!
Unfortunately, we had to cancel Girls on the Run this session as we could not find 2 parent volunteers to coach. Let us know at [email protected] if you'd be interested in coaching next session so we can get this amazing program running at our school again.
Spanish has also been canceled due to low enrollment. Please contact vendor for a full refund.
*CORRECTION: Two corrections on the master schedule on the PTA website: Maker Mania is on Fridays, NOT Mondays. Mini MBA is on Mondays NOT Fridays. The printed flyers available at the office are correct.
