U.S. Citizenship Ceremony to be Held at International Institute Friday, September 15
 
Mayor Lyda Krewson will be the Featured Speaker

ST. LOUIS (September 13, 2017) The International Institute of St. Louis, the St. Louis Region's Welcoming Center for New Americans, will host a U.S. Citizenship Ceremony  this Friday morning, September 15, beginning at 11 a.m., in the Institute's Hall of Nations, 3401 Arsenal St. This distinguished program, which kicks off National Welcoming Week, will celebrate the conclusion of many New Americans' long journey to citizenship after a process that typically spans several years. 

St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson will be the featured speaker at the ceremony where 41 New Americans take the Oath of Allegiance in the Hall filled with excited family, friends and International Institute citizenship preparation class instructors. 

International Institute of St. Louis President & CEO Anna E. Crosslin noted that staff works with hundreds of prospective citizens each year, helping them complete their applications and prepare for the test. Beginning, intermediate and advanced level classes are offered along with a telephone-based tutorial program. Computer training, Michigan Test services, and higher education counseling are also provided.
 
"Since 1919, the International Institute has worked to help refugees and immigrants build new lives here in St. Louis and be productive Americans," Crosslin said. "Achievement of U.S. Citizenship is among the most important of the services we offer and we salute these New Americans for their remarkable accomplishment."
