Dear St. Isidore Families,
The St. Isidore School community has generously responded to the needs of our brothers and sisters who are victims of Hurricane Harvey. We have raised over $3,000, and our contributions are being distributed to several organizations to best benefit those in need. Thank you for your generosity. We will be doing more collections for families suffering from the effects from Hurricane Irma, so please stay tuned.
Our Challenge Success team begins its training with an overnight in-service this weekend at Stanford University. Dr. Denise Pope and Dr. Madeline Levine will be two of the keynote speakers, and there will be a plethora of workshops to participate in. Topics include the New Adolescence, project-based learning, the Well-Balanced Student, and assessment roadmaps. This is an exciting opportunity for our school and community. Schools that have participated in Challenge Success have seen much growth and improvement in the areas of homework and assessment, while students feel more connected, supported, and motivated in school. We will update you as the year unfolds.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday, September 22, at Casino Night. The PTG is hosting this event for all of our wonderful parents, who have given so much to our school. It is not a fund-raiser but a social outing for parents to get together and have some fun. There will be lots of good food and drinks. You can register for the evening
here
. Don’t miss out—registration for this fabulous event closes tomorrow. Our thanks to the PTG for all of their sincere efforts in making this an enjoyable evening for all of us!
Next week Ms. Crossen will be recruiting students in grades 4–6 who are interested in band. This is a great opportunity for our students, as most schools do not have band as an extracurricular option. The band meets in the morning on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. There are three performances throughout the year. Please look for a flyer with more information next week.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Maria Ward

Volunteer Opportunities -
Please click on the link below to take a look at volunteer opportunities for this school year. It truly takes a village to make all of our events occur and run smoothly. Thank you in advance for your consideration in signing up to help with one of our amazing fundraisers!
Teacher appreciation once a month all year long! Please take a look at this NEW opportunity to show your appreciation for our amazing teachers this year! It's simple! Sign-up for our
YARD DUTY
position today! Sign - up one time or as many times as you can. Help us show our teachers how much we appreciate them in this fun and easy way throughout the year!
One Thursday a month we would like to give our teachers the chance to have lunch together. Currently, they take turns having lunch because someone must always stay with the students. Yard Duty Volunteers would allow our hardworking teachers to enjoy one lunch a month with their teaching team. The signup hours vary depending on the grade, but the duration will be 1 hour.
Please consider signing up at least once this year to help show our teachers how much we appreciate them!

Scrip News...
From the top of the list to the bottom we have it all. Locally owned businesses Chamois, Domenico’s Delicatessen, and Yogurt Shack are all generous with their donations to St. Isidore School. Please keep them in mind, and your SCRIP cards handy when you are working on a weekend home project, picking up lunch at Domenico’s or taking the kids out for a treat after school, a game or a school dance.
Conrad Hotels and Wendy's are now available as a Special Order (found on the back of the green form). Conrad Hotels consist of Hilton Hotels, Waldorf Astoria, Embassy Suites and Double Tree. They are available in $100 denominations and a give back of 2% to the school. Wendy's is in $10 denominations and they give back 4% to the school. Both are great additions to our Scrip Form which gives more variety to our families.
Our accordion gift card holders are available on the Special Order form too. They are $3 each and are listed under Cascading Card File. They are the perfect vehicle for keeping track of all your SCRIP cards and make nice little gifts for anyone needing a little help with organization.
Thank you for shopping with Scrip!
