It was an exciting summer! Our Summer Reading Program was very well-attended this year. The library passport program introduced a lot of people to our library and those in surrounding communities. Prizes were given away, a Lego city was built, and a great many books were read. Our new parking lot is almost done, and we even made a nifty video with Douglas Cable. 

Now it is time to move on to my favorite season. The best season. The season when New England shines! Move aside fall-haters, it's decorative gourd time! Also, this stuff:
Music & Movement for Preschoolers

Join us for Deb Hudgins's "Sing and Swing Pre-K Music and Movement" program. There will be:
  • Singing!
  • Dancing!
  • Fun!
  • Guitar Music!
  • Rhythm Instruments!
  • Stories!
  • Fun Props like parachutes, beanbags, and scarves!
  • Wow!
The program will run for six weeks at the library from September 19 to October 24, every Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm. Parents/caregivers are encouraged to join the fun. We won't make you participate, but you can dance if you want to.  You can leave your friends behind.  Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance  well they're no friends of mine.

Chess Club is Back




Professor Jerry Williams is rearing and ready to ramp up our raucous chess club after our summer hiatus. Chess club will commence on September 12, and will occur every Tuesday. Please note that the time will be different this year: 5:45 - 7:45 pm. All school-aged children are welcome to come join the rowdy fun.

Fall Storytime




Autumn means Miss Debbie's Fall Storytime! Storytime will kick off on September 25th and run until November 1st. The schedule will be as follows:

Monday @ 10:00 am: ages 15 months to 2 years.
Monday @ 1:00 pm: ages 3 to 5.
Tuesday @ 4:00 pm:  ages 3 to 5.
Tuesday @ 6:00 pm: ages 5 to 7.
Wednesday @ 10:00 am: ages 2 to 4.

Senior Center Book Club




We are trying our hand at a new book club this fall in collaboration with the Senior Center. We will be reading The Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford and then watching the film into which it was adapted. Registration is required for this club so we order the right number of books (large print and audio available). Exact times are still forthcoming, but look out for the following dates:

September 28th: Books will be ready for pickup at the Douglas Senior Center.
October 11th: Book discussion and luncheon. 
October 18th: Film screening.
