Garbage Service Resumes Tomorrow

As the City of Coral Gables continues to recover from Hurricane Irma, our highest sanitation priorities are the collection of household garbage and hurricane debris removal .
  • Garbage service will resume on Thursday, September 14;
  • Monday/Thursday service will be provided Thursday, September 14;
  • Tuesday/Friday service will be provided Friday, September 15;
  • Recycling service is suspended until further notice.  Recycling crews will assist in garbage collection;
  • Bulk Trash service is suspended until further notice to allow crews to assist in debris removal.
Please follow these instructions to make for a safe, efficient and less costly clean-up!

HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE COLLECTION INSTRUCTIONS
  • Do Not place household garbage out until 6:00 p.m. the night before your collection day;
  • Make sure all garbage is secured in plastic bags, preferably in garbage bins;
  • Garbage bins/bagged garbage MUST be accessible and visible from the street;
  • PER FEMA RULES, HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE MUST BE KEPT SEPARATE FROM TREE DEBRIS AND OTHER VEGETATIVE MATERIAL. Failure to separate materials will result in delayed service or no pickup.

HURRICANE DEBRIS REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

Hurricane debris removal is being coordinated through FEMA and will begin as soon as possibleResidents are encouraged to place out storm-related debris from their properties, using existing hurricane debris piles if possible. Do not include broken furniture, discards or household refuse in vegetation piles, as this will impede the debris removal and processing operation. Failure to follow these FEMA requirements will result in delayed or no-pickup
Please call 305-460-5346 or 305-460-5000 if questions.

FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT CUSTOMERS

It is essential that storm debris is placed out separately from regular garbage. That gives Waste Management access to collect the regular garbage, and it gives the City's debris removal contractor access to the storm related debris.

Recovery Updates

Trolley:
Coral Gables Trolley resumed today with partial service. The north/south route on Douglas Road to Flagler Street is running today until 8 p.m. with delayed service every 15 minutes and is expected to continue until Friday.  The Grand Avenue loop is NOT running today due to traffic signals in the area that are not working. We will provide further updates as normal operations resume.

Services:
  • The Kerdyk Biltmore Tennis Center is reopening seven of its tennis court facilities for regular tennis play.
  • The Venetian Pool is closed until further notice.
  • The War Memorial Youth Center is closed until further notice.
  • The Adult Activity Center is inviting Gables senior citizens without electricity to stop by for fresh air conditioning, cool water, watch a movie or play some board games. It is open until 5 p.m. and is located at 2 Andalusia Avenue.
Traffic:
The 1300 block of Bird Road, westbound, is closed  until further notice due to downed power line. Expect delays around the area.

Police Traffic Enforcement is in the field directing traffic, barricading hazards, and responding to traffic crashes (if necessary) to make our roadways as safe as possible during the recovery.

Drivers should continue to use caution as several traffic lights are still non-functional along major thoroughfares including:
  • Ponce de Leon Blvd.
  • Douglas Ave
  • Coral Way
  • Red Road
  • Bird Road
  • LeJeune Road
  • US1
Thank you for your Patience!
