Last week I asked two questions, based on the genealogy of Jesus found in Matthew 1:1-17:
1) Is Jesus a footnote for you?
2) Who are you treating like a footnote?
I hope these questions have been a gracious invitation for you into deeper conversation with others and with God in prayer.
This Sunday, we will be hearing about the call of four of Jesus' disciples in Matthew 4:18-22. I think that nothing is more important in life than following Jesus. The reason LCPC exists is for us to orient our lives around following Jesus, and to share this life of discipleship with others. Let's follow Jesus, together. See you on Sunday!
Peace,
Pastor Jeff
Jeff Hoffmeyer, Senior Pastor La Cañada Presbyterian Church
We also encourage you to connect through the following events:
Children, teens & parents can learn how to recognize stress in their lives, and develop awareness of signs & symptoms of stress. We'll also learn how to reduce the impact of stress and practice implementing some solutions and increasing compassion in our relationships.
Join us in the Sanctuary for composer Olivier Messiaen's work "Quartet for the End of Time," based on five verses from the Book of Revelation. It was composed and first heard on a brutally cold January night in 1941, at the Stalag VIIIA prisoner-of-war camp, in Görlitz, Germany.
The Crescenta Ensemble was founded by Jacqueline Suzuki, a member of our LCPC Orchestra and consists of a violin, clarinet and cello and piano.
A devout follower of Jesus, the composer Messiaen composed this work to express his confidence in what he called "the eternity of Jesus," despite the horrific circumstances of his imprisonment in a Nazi concentration camp.
Our Chancel Choir rehearses on Thursdays at 7:30PM in the Burcham Rehearsal Hall.
New members are welcome on all parts. Anyone with a tuneful voice is welcome to join. Prior choral experience is helpful, but not necessary. No audition is required. The sole prerequisite is a love of praising God through musical worship and ministry.
It is a great way to make friends, worship God and make music at the same time!

Join the Eubank family, recently back from Mosul, Iraq, to hear stories of rescue and heroism in one of the world's most dangerous places. The Eubanks founded Free Burma Rangers to bring hope and rescue to ethnic minorities under attack in Burma, and has most recently expanded to help people under attack by ISIS in Iraq. They have been in the news a lot lately because of their work in Mosul to help Kurds, Yzidis and other groups held captive by ISIS in Mosul. You can watch one of those stories
here.
