Time To Talk Pumpkin Patch.
So the storm really put an unfortunate tartiness to our patch preperation.  But the pumpkins are coming whether we're ready or not.  So this week we are really going to need to overtime for anyone that can help.  On Wednesday 9/13 at 12p we are going to start putting the fencing back up and unload the screen porch and sanctuary (where we put all of Monday's supplies).

We've made a lot of progress with decorations thanks to Roseanna Sorrell and Heather Hohenstein, but have a lot more to do.

Then on September 17th, we will have our Pumpkin Patch Rally from 6 to 8p (postponed from last Sunday). Students traditionally get an hour for being at the rally.  It is also their first opportunity to sign up for shifts.  We allow upperclassmen to go first as their schedules tend to be more limited, followed by lowerclassmen and then middle schoolers. All parents, students, and pumpkin patch workers are encouraged to attend.

Our first unloading is September 23rd at 8am.

We also need friends to sign up for committees.  You can do just that at www.firstchurchpo.org/pumpkinpatch.  Check to see which committee is right for you.

So join us as it's time to get busy and prepare for another big fundraising season.  We need lot's of help.
Rock the Universe

We are very sorry for the need to cancel Rock the Universe.  We are working with Universal Studios after the storm to receive refunds.  They are not rescheduling the event.  However, they may upgrade our tickets to full day tickets for us to go at a later date.  More on that information coming soon.

Bring a Friend Month

Starting August 14th through September 30th.

We will be having our annual Bring a Friend Month Event. We are excited to once again offer FOUR AMAZING PRIZES!!  So here's how it works this year.

A student invites a friend who has NEVER been to youth group before. These are NEW friends that they meet at school or on a team.  They can invite them to Venture, Discover or Pursuit and Xplore (as long as they are in the appropriate grades).  They will get an entry into the bring a friend box for their grade.
-They can get up to three entries per friend if they visit three different times.
-Their friends can get credit for inviting friends too.
-At the end of the month, we will draw two (separate) names from each of the two boxes (high school and middle school)
-Between the 4 winners, in order of who brought the most friends, will get to choose their reward first, the 2nd most will go 2nd, etc. etc.
-If there is a tie, we will determine a winner by random draw.
-So far we can expect to see the rewards as; a Samsung Tablet, a $200 credit to any camp or retreat, a Giant 8' Foam Surfboard and an HP Elitebook.

So start asking your friends to come to youth group.  You could be the one to take home an awesome prize.
