As many find themselves dealing with the devastating aftermath of yet another hurricane, IACP  wanted to highlight members who are working around the clock to help patients and other pharmacists, as well as provide you with invaluable pharmacy and legal resources that are available for you.

Pharmacists Assist Patients Impacted by Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma wreaked havoc throughout the Caribbean, and then on to Florida, with unprecedented winds and storm surge in many areas. IACP Member pharmacists quickly sprang into action, helping their patients and communities.
IACP Members Take Immediate Action to Help Patients!

IACP Board Member Marisol Lopez, RPh, MPh, University of Puerto Rico School of Pharmacy in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, reports they experienced s
trong tropical storm winds for approximately eight hours, and subsequently lost power and service for three days.  The government and local hospitals are providing medical assistance and shelter to refugees from the Lesser Antilles. Marisol says she  will be providing a conference at the School of Pharmacy about Compounding During Emergency Times, to support local pharmacists in the event Puerto Rico experiences medication shortages as a result of the storm. Times and dates to be confirmed.

IACP Member Lois Adams, BPharm, MBA, CRPh, and staff at Freedom Pharmacy & Wellness Center in Orlando, Fla., have used their  Facebook page as a powerful source of public information for their patients and community, providing daily updates on various emergency resources/contact information, generator safety tips, community water safety notices, and more. Lois and her staff have done a great job of using their social media channels for the benefit of their community!

IACP Members - please let us know how you're doing, and please share any of your activities on  IACP's Facebook  page. Thank you for making a real difference in your communities!
