Taking long walks is something Anne Kozinsky said she always enjoyed doing. And at the age of 101, she still doesn't need any assistance from a cane, walker or a nurse. Last Saturday Kozinsky celebrated her 101st birthday at The Regency in Glen Cove. "It just happened," she said, insisting that she doesn't have any secret to a long life. "It's all God's will. I had nothing to do with it really." You would never guess that Kozinsky had reached a century; she appears to be in her late 70's at best. She dresses herself, knows what jewelry will look best, does her own hair and is completely self-sufficient.

Oleg is from Ternopil, Ukraine. He came to the United States almost 5 years ago. Oleg has 2 sons and lives in Brooklyn. Gail is originally from California but has lived in New York for over 30 years. 


Gail lives with her husband, Ron in Massapequa. Gail has met many of our residents and is enjoying the vibrancy of the community.

Fall Slow-Cooker Bolognese
Homemade pasta sauce is just a timer away!

Ingredients:
  • 1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 large carrots, chopped
  • 3 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 tbsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp. dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 c. dry red wine
  • 1 c. whole milk
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Directions:
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Add onion, carrot, celery, and garlic and cook until tender, 6 minutes. Add tomato paste and stir until combined, then add ground beef and brown. Transfer mixture with a slotted spoon to slow-cooker.
  2. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, thyme, bay leaf, salt, red wine, and milk. Stir until combined, then season with pepper. Cover and cook on low, 6 hours. Discard bay leaf.
  3. Serve over cooked pasta.
