COACH Q & A:
What is one thing you are looking forward to this fall?

Ms. Jenni

"I am always excited to kick off a new academic year - this year we have 3 new coaches, and more students in the program than we've ever had (463!) This fall I will have the chance to visit Scholars both at local 4YR schools, as well as some Scholars at MC.  It's fun to meet students on their campuses, whether they're in their first, third, or seventh semester of college!"

Ms. Nneka
This fall, I am looking forward to doing more reading, creative writing and spending quality time with my daughter who will be going to 1st grade this year. I am also looking forward to wearing fun earth tone colors as part of my fashionable fall wardrobe :-)

Ms. Rachel

"I've always found the beginning of the school year to be exciting, so I am eager to hear how the Fall unfolds for my students, particularly the Freshmen! I also really love crisp, sweet and fresh apples!"

Ms. Fenise Dunson

"I am most looking forward to Carmel Apples, and Cider, meeting with my students on their campuses, and taking campus tours in the crisp fall air!"

Mr. Dennis

"I most look forward to the smells of the changing of the season. It usually marks the beginning of a new year even though it's technically the end of the actual calendar year. New school year, beginning of most sport seasons etc..."

Ms. Courtney
"Well, my response is twofold. I have a more serious response and a more tri vial response. I set some goals for myself back in December of last year, and I'm definitely looking forward to making sure I achieve those goals before the New Year. Also, I'm a foodie; so I'm really looking forward to all the foods that typically only make an appearance during the fall, like butternut squash soup, pumpkin muffins, and sweet potato pie!"

Hello College Bound Scholars!

Hello to our new Success Program Scholars and welcome back to our continuing Scholars!  Thank you to our new scholars that attended our summer CSI workshops. During those five weeks, you learned how to use some important tools that will help you succeed in college. As you embark on your college career over the next few weeks, it is our hope that you are using all of those tools, especially your College Success Coach!  If you haven't already, please email a copy of your class schedule to your Success Coach.
We look forward to seeing you all very soon during our on campus check-in visits; and for our very distant scholars, via Skype and Google Hangout.

How to prepare for your Fall Semester Check-in:

Bring your questions:  Are you having issues with your Financial Aid, adding or dropping a class or need some advice on how to create a study schedule and manage your time? Here is your opportunity to get answers and immediate help.

Be prepared to meet for one hour and committed to the process:  During your check-in this is YOUR time, respect it and your coach by showing up on time, ready to talk and complete necessary tasks.  Feel free to give us a campus tour and show your favorite place to hang out!

Fall Is Right Around the Corner

Here's to Fall-a season of new beginnings!

Now is the time to embrace your college experience. Whether you're just starting your college journey, or you're in your last semester of college, know that change is a part of college, and life. Change is inevitable, but it also brings about an enormous amount of growth and opportunity."

"The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to
let the dead things go." ~anonymous

Sometimes change isn't easy. For many, change will come in the form of adjusting to college life, making new friends, and becoming independent.  For others it may be time to look for internships, a part-time job or even applying for graduation.  Take a step back and acknowledge all that you have accomplished and be encouraged by what great things await you! If you need help adjusting in anyway, please share that with your success coach so that we can partner with you to find solutions. What ever that change is for you; it is our hope that you welcome it.

Welcome New Success Coach:
Ms. Courtney Riley

Meet one of our new Success Coaches--Ms. Courtney Riley. She joined the CollegeTracks Success Program in July and is very excited to be working with Success Scholars. Read on to learn more about her.

What school did you attend and what was your major?
"I went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for college and my major was Sociology with a minor in Education Policy Studies. I went to the University of Maryland College Park for graduate school and received my Masters in Student Affairs."

What is your favorite food?
"Sweets! I love cookies, cupcakes, and muffins especially. Interestingly though, I do not really care for anything that's chocolate-flavored."

Give one interesting fact about yourself.
"I have a really great memory; sometimes it surprises people--including me!"

What are you most excited about in joining the CollegeTracks Success Team?
"I am excited to work with a team of equally committed and caring individuals. I also really look forward to building strong connections with scholars and helping them achieve their goals."

What are your hobbies?
"In no particular order,  love to read, travel, sing, work out, watch movies, play sports, and hang out with friends and family!"

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
"The ability to heal people. Healing and growth are two things I'm already wholly invested in, and I think a superpower would only amplify that."
