Hurricane Irma Updates

Please note: due to the uncertainty of Hurricane Irma's path, upcoming events are subject to change. Please check the website or call the church office for the latest information as decisions are made concerning all Belin Memorial events. As always, please make your safety a priority.

Further decisions will be made tomorrow morning as the path of Hurricane Irma is more clearly defined. Watch for an email update from Belin Memorial at that time. 
CURRENT CANCELLATIONS / POSTPONEMENTS:

- The Tidelands Health Fair scheduled for Friday (September 8) has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date, to be determined  
  - Backpack Mission Food Drive at Lowes Foods on Saturday (September 9) has been postponed until next month on Saturday, October 7, 11 AM - 3 PM

- The Mary McDonald Concert scheduled for Sunday (September 10) has been postponed to Sunday, November 19, time to be determined

  - The Frances Wilson Circle meeting scheduled on Monday (September 11) has been postponed to Monday, September 18, 10 AM

  - The Grace Circle meeting scheduled on Monday (September 11) has been cancelled. They will reconvene next month on Monday, October 2

  - The Women's Study scheduled to begin on Monday (September 11) will begin the following Monday, September 18, 6 PM

  - The Cub Scout Pack 396 Open House / Kickoff is subject to change based on the path of Hurricane Irma. Contact Doug Wahl (see announcement below) for further information.


  - Alzheimer's Support Group cancelled for September 13 and will reconvene on September 27 at 10 AM

  - The Gathering Fellowship Dinner scheduled for Wednesday (September 13) has been postponed to Wednesday, September 20, 5 PM - 6:15 PM

Hurricane Harvey Offering
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the special Hurricane Harvey collection last Sunday. Due to your overwhelming generosity, we collected over $22,500, which will provide assistance directly to those impacted in the greater Houston area.

Our prayers go out to all those in the path of Hurricane Irma at this time. May God be merciful.

Belin Memorial Golf Tournament
Monday, September 25
10:30 AM Registration
12 noon Shotgun Start

Wachesaw Plantation

Dinner, prizes, and awards ceremony will follow the tournament. Registration forms are now available  online (CLICK) , in the Family Life Center, and church office. Sign up today!

Belin Memorial's Mission Team is hosting this year's tournament and largest fundraising event of the year. Various sponsorship levels are available including corporate, team, and single player. Proceeds from the tournament will support local, state, and international missions of Belin Memorial.

Tidelands Health Fair
This event has been postponed to a later date, to be determined, due to Hurricane Irma

A wide variety of health information will be available at no cost, and blood screenings will be available at a nominal cost. If you are having a chemistry blood panel test, don't forget to fast.

Traffic and parking congestion is expected, so please arrive early and be patient! 

The Gathering Fellowship Dinners
This event has been postponed to September 20 due to Hurricane Irma . . .

Family Life Center

Bring the whole family for a great meal and fellowship. Cost is $7 adult; $4 ages 3-11; no charge under 3 years.

Belin Backpack Mission

Grab a Green Sack this Sunday
!
Belin's Backpack Mission is gearing up for another school year. We will begin 
distributing food to needy children and their families in our local school districts the week of September 11.



HERE'S HOW IT WORKS . . .

1. Grab a green Sack Hunger bag from the sanctuary or the Family Life Center.
2. Purchase items on the card inside the green sack.
3. Return the green sack to the Family Life Center or sanctuary.

It's easy to participate! We will be sending food items home weekly to almost 200 children from Waccamaw, St. James, and Socastee area schools so that they have food to eat over the weekend. God bless you!

You are invited to attend the next Belin 101 class, a five-week introductory class to our United Methodist faith.

New members, old members, and prospective members are welcome to join us. Classes will include a historic prospective, worship practices, the calendar, Methodist doctrine and beliefs, our mission and ministry, and opportunities to be involved at Belin Memorial.

This new class offering for kids, ages 8 - 12, will give the acting student an opportunity to develop their confidence, self-awareness, and creativity as we learn about character development and bring to life truthful interpretation of the words written in script. "The Genesis of Woman"

"The Genesis of Woman: Back to Our Roots" by Tami Weissert is a nine-week study in three parts that will "lead us to surrender our imperfections to God and use our God-given strengths to be the women our Creator intended."

A Note About Parking
Please refrain from parking in the Belin Memorial Cemetery on Sundays during worship services so that we may keep access open for those wishing to visit their departed loved ones. There is ample extra parking in the grass field just north of the church office as needed. Thank you for your consideration and cooperation.
