Sept 9 | 2:30 pm - 7:00 pm  | Confluence Park
There has been a nation wide call out to stop Energy Transfer Partners.
This day almost marks the same day that Colorado and surrounding areas came together in solidarity for Standing Rock.
We came together to stand up and fight for "the people," our future and our water.
Since that date, there have been many calls out for solidarity that many of us have answered to. There has also been much needed unity as our nation becomes more and more unstable with a leader whose interest only is for himself and his pockets!
We are asking that the people of Colorado come together on September 9th, 2017 and create a Rising of Humanity, for our future, for our Earth, and for our Water.
As a group of community leaders we are asking that you join us at the Confluence at 2:30pm to make the walk from there to the Colorado State Capital. If you are unable to make the walk, please join us on the capital steps!
We would like to remember and to honor what it was that brought such a powerful coming together from across the world. In hopes that the Unity builds and that as, we the people begin to understand how the decisions coming from #45 will affect us and our children....
And how we will rise to become the change that we have needed for over 500 years.

Thru Sept 10 | 10 am -5 pm | Denver Art Museum
The Western: An Epic in Art and Film is the first major exhibition to examine the Western genre and its evolution from the mid-1800s to the present through fine art, film, and popular culture. Featuring 160 works, the exhibition explores gender roles, race relations, and gun violence-offering a visual journey that is more than cowboys and American Indians, pursuits and duels, or bandits and barroom brawls. From the romantic, large-scale paintings by Frederic Remington and Albert Bierstadt to the legends of "Buffalo Bill" Cody and Billy the Kid, the American West materializes: it is synonymous with the Westerns of filmmakers John Ford and Sergio Leone, and the subject of contemporary artists Ed Ruscha and Kent Monkman. By featuring these and other artists, authors, filmmakers, and historic figures together, The Western observes how the mythology of the West spread throughout the world and endures today. The Western: An Epic in Art and Film is co-organized by the DAM and Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA); co-curated by Thomas Brent Smith, director of the Petrie Institute of Western American Art at the DAM, and Mary Dailey Desmarais, Ph.D., curator of International Modern Art at the MMFA.

It's someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called the Aspen Art Museum. Okay, enough Dumb and Dumberreferences. The Aspen Art Museum is the real deal, internationally recognized for its contemporary art exhibits. Programming includes art talks, gallery tours, private collection tours, the Distinguished Artist in Residence Program, educational workshops and member art trips to international art centers. Shaggin' wagons welcome.

Thru Sept 24 | 9:30 am - 10:30 am | Denver Botanical Gardens | Gen. Adm.
American artist Alexander Calder (1898-1976) is considered one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century and is known for his bold energetic sculptures.
Calder: Monumental features these iconic works of bolted steel plate-which rise in sweeping curves, or puncture space with geometric lines-revealing the artist's exploration of forms, volumes, and voids. Using shapes that resonate with the natural world, Calder's large lively abstractions interact with the surrounding landscape.
Learn more about the sculptures with a docent guide during a one-hour tour of the exhibition.

Thru Oct 1 | 10 am - 6 pm | Denver Art Museum | Gen. Adm.
Pre-Columbian art is full of human and supernatural figures in dramatic poses. Some clearly portray dance, while others appear to represent singing, oratory, drama, and ritual. This installation of 29 objects presents a cross-cultural selection of works from the Denver Art Museum's extensive collection.
Thru Dec 31 | 9 am - 5 pm | Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave | Gen. Adm.
As Cody lay dying at his sister's home in Denver, he made one final request, "Bury me on top of Mount Lookout." This exhibit, honoring the centennial of Cody's passing, will look more deeply into the details leading up to, and following, this momentous yet controversial decision.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Sept 12
As a non-financial person, your actions and decisions affect the financial picture. But, if you're making those decisions without a solid knowledge of finance and accounting, you're operating in the dark.
Finance courses for beginners are developed to meet the specific needs of non-financial people like you. With our training class you'll learn the basics of accounting and finance in easy-to-understand layman's terms. What's more, you'll learn how to apply and use the information to operate more efficiently and successfully.
We cover all of the essential elements of finance and accounting in one fast-paced, well-designed program. And, our extensively tested adult learning methods will have you participating and interacting - you'll be on the edge of your seat - not slumped down in it!

Sept 13
People judge you by how you communicate. Learn the secrets to coming across as positive, credible, friendly, and professional ... and watch your results soar!
It's a fact: The ability to communicate effectively can make or break your career. Don't believe it? Consider this staggering statistic from a survey of U.S. businesses: "Inability to communicate" and "poor communication skills" were listed as the top reasons for employees not succeeding on the job.
That probably comes as no surprise to you, because as a professional today you've seen time and again how people who have first-rate communication skills go farther faster in their organizations than those who don't. But contrary to popular belief, the ability to communicate with finesse and diplomacy isn't a gift that some are born with and the rest of us lack. It's a skill that can be learned and mastered, just like any other skill.

Sept 15
We can't make negative and toxic employees disappear from your life-but we can promise that you'll know how to deal with them more effectively. Imagine, after just one amazing day ... no more sleepless nights spent recounting the day's ugly adventures ... and no more commutes to work dreading the day ahead. You'll develop a more positive management approach and a whole new outlook for your difficult employees the very next day back at work!
If negativity is draining your enthusiasm and affecting your team's performance-and difficult people are making work miserable-you NEED this training NOW!

Sept 18
This communication skills seminar is for anyone who wants to hear others clearly and respond appropriately when feeling challenged, overwhelmed or "on the spot"...gain collaboration when presenting new ideas instead of trying to seize control...and have thoughtful and diplomatic interactions in difficult situations.
How well you communicate can make or break your professional image, influencing how others view your work, your performance...even your technical skill sets and your prospects for career mobility. This communication skills seminar will teach you how to choose and use the most appropriate words and emotional tone for every business situation. In just two days, you'll gain insights into your communication style and that of others, while providing you with skills for clearly and effectively receiving and transmitting information, ideas, thoughts, feelings and needs.

Sept 19 - 20
The training field can change fast. New methodologies. New discoveries about the way adults learn. Changing expectations from trainees-and from your company. It's a tough job. Now you don't have to go it alone or try to keep up by the "seat of your pants." This powerful seminar from AMA puts the latest trends and techniques at your fingertips. Whether you've been training for a while or never stepped onto a platform before, this workshop will show you how to build confidence, engage your audience and leave your trainees singing your praises as a trainer.

Sept 28
Nearly all work involves interaction with others and communication of some sort. Clear, persuasive communication - between individuals, within teams, among departments -- is a vital part of any successful organization.
Developed specifically to meet the needs of today's working woman, this communication training offers valuable insights you can use to enhance your communication style while earning the respect and cooperation of others. You'll learn to speak up with composure and confidence. We'll help you unearth self-defeating attitudes and replace them with positive expectations. You'll get tips to help you deal with trembling hands, "butterflies," and other nervous symptoms.

Aside from featuring Ice Cube , the common thread of these films was the hilarious prominence of marijuana-smoking comic characters like the ones portrayed by Epps.

This just in...some news should be fake. Luckily, savvy experts at Denver's own Bovine Metropolis Theater are stepping in to corner the market with their new, fully improvised show, "Fake Network News."
Performed in the style of Meet the Press, AC 360 and other cable news programs, FNN features interviews, recurring segments and round-table discussions between their fake news anchors and a 'virtual who's who' of counterfeit experts, pundits and commentators.
"The fakest of the fake. (@BovineMetro) Sad. So-called journalists make up all the facts. PATHETIC. Only I can do that. LOSERS."
~President Trump (note: this is a fake tweet, or IS it?)
While the Pundits might be fake, the issues are utterly real and provided by the audience. Gun control? Sure. Immigration? Why not. The ethics of pet squirrel fashion shows? Um, ok. The anchors, reporters and commentators at FNN are chomping at the bit to give you all the fake news you deserve. The FNN production staff is going rogue, unscripted and improvised. It's all fabricated on the spot, and in front of your lying eyes.

All the things you love about the Harry Potter universe will be displayed on stage: charms, Hogwarts houses, transfiguration, and magical creatures. Returning to Hogwarts has never been this funny. Jazz vocalist extraordinaire, Myra Warren, is a veteran of work as featured vocalist with Al "Hammond" Moore Orchestra, The Gordon Simms Band, and Purnell Steen and La Jazz Machine. Her swinging style and easygoing stage presence have made her a favorite of many jazz festivals and numerous night club engagements in the Rocky Mountain area as well as the Las Vegas Club scene. Her distinctive blend of Nancy Wilson and Etta Jones' vocal interpretations continually mesmerizes audiences throughout the area.
A talented bop-based pianist and a highly appealing and sensuous singer, Ellyn Rucker has long been a fixture in the Denver area. Although she started playing piano when she was eight, discovered jazz at 13, and studied classical piano at Drake University, she did not decide to become a full-time musician until 1979. Rucker has toured Europe several times (with and without Spike Robinson), recorded several albums for Capri, has a full-length video on Leisure Jazz, and performed at many festivals. Perhaps if Ellyn Rucker had taken up music full-time 20 years earlier or lived in a larger area than Denver she would be a bigger name. However, her talent has long been in the major leagues and her recordings are all quite appealing and powerful.

H.I.K.E. is about taking kids out of the shelters and giving them a chance to explore some of the incredible things that Colorado has to offer. In September we're headed up to Garden of the Gods one of the most beautiful hikes around the Colorado.
Studies show that children who grow up in homelessness suffer from a number of physical, emotional, mental and educational problems. Our hope is to get them out of the shelter environment and around nature, helping them with a educational, physical, and social activities.

Thru Sept 23 | 8:30 pm | The Alamo Drafthouse
PG | 1 hr 36 min | Fantasy / Parody
Never before has "they've gone to plaid" looked finer (or funnier). Seriously, this is the space spoof to end all space spoofs -- everything from STAR WARS (natch) to ALIEN, 2001 to PLANET OF THE APES all get brilliantly skewered. Add to that a legendary cast that includes John Candy, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, Dom DeLuise, Joan Rivers, Brooks himself and, well, you've got a movie that you quote and replay in your brain pretty much endlessly. Do your brain a favor and see it again large, loud, and awesomely laugh-inducing on the big screen -- while letting all your favorite quotes fly along with a whole theater full of lifelong fans.
