Working with children in the past used to be quite the challenge. They were not that savvy on new tech and it was pretty hard to keep them in one place. It's that natural curiosity that they displayed so well. They really weren't that bad, but now it is easy to capture them in all their childhood and wardrobe.
Photogrammetry has come a long way in our ability to capture a model in a fraction of a second. Now it is like capturing our kids on holidays, Did they tilt their head, cross their eyes, blink of do something that is not use full?
This is the big plus, like using your camera, you just shoot another picture.
Unfortunately, it still takes time to process and prepare the workflow that will take 3-5 days
based on complexity.
We really do like to work with kids as everything is new and for the most part they are looking to cooperate.
This system
is for heads and expressions (love those
expressions
, even the ones not called for) 
Of course we also work with adults, same rules, no squirming around or chewing gum. No talking on the cell when in the scanning chair.

There are several ways to build bigger and better 3D
assets for your project, depending upon how much time and money you have allotted for 3D assets.
For example, you could have a 3D modeler just model your assets from sketches, and depending on his / her experience you would have your
3D model in days or weeks.

Alternatively, you could buy a similar asset online, and then modify it to make it unique for your project. This might be a quick solution, depending upon the level of finish and detail of the purchased asset. This may work out fine; in fact, you may be using this strategy now.

Lastly, you could 3D scan your model with
structured light
to get an exact digital replica. Similarly, you can use photogrammetry to build an exact 3D replica using DSLR cameras and high-resolution photography. If you are building a 3D model of a structure or an environment you can utilize a drone to cover all of the angles; however this does take great skill and patience to get it right.

From my perspective of watching this market my favorite MR device is the Hololens.
First of all, I like the ability to not trip over items and be able to see what is around me. It makes me feel safer, plus adding the bringing of holograms into the real world in full size is amazing.
I also like that it is not tethered to anything, that you are walking around without wires to get tangled on other objects or you own feet.
I see how Volvo using the technology is not only helping the design and look at the different layers, but also in sales and marketing to educate their customers on their car to show what they are made of and how safe they are because of how they are built, plus the safety features.
They also show some game playing scenarios, but far better to be used in a real world environment to learn, discover and understand the world around us. Videos available to see by going to Hololens.
The end goal appears to be Mixed Reality as the main technology for media experiences. Mixed Reality is about interacting in the real world but with
holographic 3D assets superimposed by transparent lenses. Considering Virtual Reality still has a relatively small footprint, we're seemingly years away from Mixed Reality going mainstream.
