Through its Kaleidoscope Fund, LCEF is providing:
  • $250,000 to LCMS Disaster Response, which walks alongside disaster victims to provide emergency and long-term relief. The funds are earmarked specifically for assistance to those with Hurricane Harvey damages.
  • a total of $100,000 in grants to LCEF borrowers - both ministries and rostered church workers - who have been affected by the storm.

Hurricane Irma
The English District is a managing partner of the DRLM (Dominican Republic Lutheran Mission). Please keep that ministry, our missionaries and their families, as well as all the people of the Caribbean and Florida in your prayers in the wake of Hurricane Irma and as it continues in its path of destruction.

In all circumstances
This month the chapel offerings from Redeemer, Oakmont, P A  will be sent to Lutheran High South Academy (LHSA), Houston, TX. The school sustained massive flooding during Hurricane Harvey. Learning is fun!
Ms. Smith and her students at Martin Luther Christian School, Pennsauken, NJ, are learning cooperation, responsibility, empathy, self-control and assertion while reading "Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun"!
Welcome!
New teacher Maria B. and assistant Christy K. are blessed and installed as they begin the academic year at Grace Beginnings Preschool, Wyoming, MI.
.

Happy to be back!
Shepherd King Preschool students in West Bloomfield, MI, had tons of fun on their first day of school! They reunited with old friends and engaged in fun play with new friends.
Learning through teamwork
Third and fourth graders from Bethesda International Academy, Chicago, IL, did a fun team-building activity - rescuing Fred (a gummy worm) who capsized his boat (cup) and lost his life preserver. They could only use 4 paper clips (not their hands) to get Fred in his life preserver.

English District Missions Council
A big thank you to The Rev. James Huenink, Circuit Visitor for Chicago-South, for attending the English District Missions Council this past week! This group meets twice a month with the purpose of supporting, encouraging, and equipping the many different missions of the District. Pastor Huenink kindly lent his time and expertise to inform the members about the many opportunities that exist in the Chicago area.

If you're a Circuit Visitor and wish to attend an English District Missions Council meeting, please contact The Rev. J. Derek Mathers or The Rev. Justin Laughridge. The Missions Council would love to support your circuit in its missions, too!
