THURSDAY (tomorrow)

$1 Free Dress

To participate, students are asked to bring at least $1 to school the day of the free dress to be collected in the classroom.

This month, funds will benefit:

Houston Food Bank for Hurricane Harvey relief.

$1 Dollar Free Dress is a Student Council Sponsored activity. Student council members will hold several free dress opportunities throughout the year to raise awareness and funds for various charitable and social awareness organizations. Free Dress is OPTIONAL. Not all students participate or remember. If a student forgets it's free dress, we will not call home to ask parents to bring a change of clothing.

Back to school night is for K-8th parents. (No students attend)

All will meet in the gym for a presentation from Mrs. Ryan before going into the classrooms. Teachers will repeat their classroom presentation for those who have multiple children.

School Policy for Illness (from school handbook)

It's that time of year! Colds, coughs, sniffles, flu, etc.

All those little germs and bugs are busy jumping around the classrooms.

Here are a few basic guidelines for parents whose child(ren) may be coming down with a bug!

Fever	Fever free for 24 hours without Tylenol or Motrin before returning to school
Cough / Cold / Runny Nose	Few younger children can effectively blow their nose and wash hands afterwards. A child with thick or constant nasal discharge should remain home until clear to avoid spreading illness to others.
Vomiting/Diarrhea	A child should be free of vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
Strep Throat	Notify office. A child is contagious until he/she has been on antibiotics for 24 hours. Child should remain home for 24 hours of treatment and until feeling better.
Lice	Notify office. Child may return to school after lice treatment
Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)	Notify office. Child may return to school 24 hours after treatment has begun. No discharge from the eyes.
The 24 hour test	A child should stay home for at least 24 hours if the following symptoms are present the morning of school or the previous night: Vomiting and/or diarrhea Fever 100+ Itchy or reddened eyes with discharge (see Dr) Unusual rash (see Dr.) A poor night sleep due to illness, cough, etc.

Reminder: Children may not keep medication of any kind with them during the school day.

Altar Server Training

Grades 4-8

Altar Server training for new servers at Sunday Masses.

Training will be held on Tue. Sept. 26th at 7 PM at St. Rose Church.

If your child is interested, please attend the training.

NB CSL BASKETBALL

St. Rose is a member of the North Bay Catholic School Athletic League.

(NOT affiliated with CYO) There are 12 member schools.

Basketball teams are forming NOW for 5th - 8th grades.

1 team per gender - per grade.

5/6th Basketball season begins in October - ending before Christmas break

(practice will begin in mid Sept - tbd)

7/8th Basketball season begins in January - ending in early March.

(practice will begin in Dec. - tbd)

MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL

Students are prohibited from having medication of any kind with them during the school day or from bringing into the classroom. If your child requires medication to be administered, please stop by the school office to complete the Authorization to Administer Medication Release Form.

ALL medications must be in original packaging, with prescription attached, and/or dosage instructions on the package. We will not administer Allergy medication at school. Allergy medications should be taken at home prior to coming to school.

LETTER FROM MRS. RYAN

Dear Parents,

I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow at the St. Rose Back to School Night. I have lots to tell you about the various initiatives and activities we have planned for your children and how you can assist us in maximizing their learning. My talk will take place at 6:30 PM in the gym. Immediately following, you will have the opportunity to connect to various service hour opportunities, catch up with old friends, and make new ones.

At 7:30 PM, the classroom presentations begin. I hope you will make every effort to attend the session with your child's teachers as they have much to share with you. Your presence is imperative in order to initiate the parent teacher partnership that is so essential to a St. Rose education. If you have more than one child, there is an informal repeat of the teacher presentations at 8:05 PM.

In addition, we hope you and your family will join us on Friday evening for our annual outdoor movie night. It looks like the weather should be perfect.

If you are a returning parent volunteer you are required to re-certify by taking the NEW Safe Environment Course, 'A Safe Haven - It's Up to You' on the Diocese web site.

ALL MUST RE-CERTIFY BEFORE ANY CAMPUS ACTIVITY. MANY parents are still not compliant and will not be able to volunteer for campus activities until completed.
