Hurricane Irma Updates
School district officials are closely monitoring the weather and consulting with the National Weather Service and local emergency management offices.

The district will send messages to parents by phone and update the website and social media pages regarding any impact to school operations.

Updates on School Closures
This past Friday, September 8 and Monday, September 11, in hopes of relieving additional concerns during the hurricane, OCPS has decided that the two school days lost will not be made up. Under the superintendent's authority, it has been determined that such a waiver is allowed because the school-year schedules will still meet the state-required minimum instructional minutes.

Schools will be closed through Tuesday, September 12 due to the potential effects of Irma on county operations and facilities. Staff and student-safety remain our priority. Whether schools and district offices will be closed beyond Tuesday will determined after all facilities are assessed for normal use after the storm has passed.

Important information regarding Hurricane Irma can also be located on the home page of the OCPS website at www.ocps.net.

PTSA and SAC MEETINGS CANCELLED
Our regularly scheduled PTSA and SAC meetings for Tuesday, September 12 are cancelled.

Stay safe this weekend and please adhere to Orange County Government and state of Florida advisories.

In KNIGHTS Honor,

Stephanie R. Jackson, M. Ed.

They will take a written musicianship test and sight-read music they have never seen to audition. Knight PSAT 8/9

Orange County Public Schools will administer the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT 8/9) to all 8th grade students on October 11, 2017.

The PSAT 8/9 is a test that will help students and their teachers figure out what they need to work on most so that students are ready for college when they graduate from high school. It tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 10, in a way that makes sense for the student's grade level. The PSAT 8/9 establishes a baseline measurement of our students' college and career readiness as they prepare to enter high school. It also gives our students a chance to preview the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 10 and connect to AP courses.

* Lake Nona Middle School will host a PSAT Parent Night on Thursday, September 21, 2017, beginning at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria. We look forward to seeing you on September 21st to receive valuable information about the resources available to ensure our students have a successful testing experience.

Knight Field Trip

Knight Sports

Congratulations to our girls soccer team, beating the respected Hunter's Creek girls 2-0. The boys' game had to be rescheduled. Next our girls' soccer team put on a clinic of offensive strategies ending with a winning score of 10-1 against Meadow Woods on their own turf. Our boys were equally victorious beating Meadow Woods 7-0.

The teams continue to build a great chemistry in their offensive and defensive strategies. Next Wednesday our teams travel to Walker Middle School (weather permitting). Thanks to our supportive administrative team as well as parents!

Knight Parent Tip

Any student that is checked out of school prior to dismissal MUST be signed out by an adult who is listed on the student's current contact list. This INCLUDES students who participate in early release. Please have ID's present upon student pick-up.
