Principal Notes |

Dear Families,
We are in full swing here at school. The students are all settled in and a routine is in place. I want to give a big welcome to our K3 students who started this week. We are glad to have them with us.
If you are a new family, you are invited to our New Parent Social tonight at 7:00 p.m. Please join us in the school atrium. We would love to get to know you.
I think the bus situation has finally settled down. The children are arriving on time and the drivers seem to know the route. Thank you for your patience. The GoRiteway telephone number can always be found on the left hand column of Virtual Backpack. Please do not come to school if the bus is late in the afternoon. It is best to wait at your home for your child. Please call the bus company yourself. They have a direct line to their bus drivers.
If you are a parent with children from ages 0-5 please come to the St. Mary's Visitation Playgroup this Sunday from 10:00-11:00. Get to know other families, make a craft and have a snack. It will be by the play structure in front of the school. Please click on this link for more details.
Join us on Sunday, September 17th, from noon-2pm for the St. Mary's Visitation Parish Picnic. This is sponsored by St. Mary's Visitation Home and School in appreciation to the parish for their support. Lunch is free, please come and join us.
Please mark your calendar for Thursday, September 21st, at 1:30. Join grades 3rd-8th as we come together with the School Sisters of Notre Dame for their annual Peace Prayer Service. We will be meeting at the Peace Pole on the grounds of the convent across the street. (Rain location is St. Mary's church.)
Saturday, October 21st, is the Catholic Schools Walk for Education at Mount Mary University. If you haven't signed up yet, you need to register by Tuesday, September 19th, to receive your free t-shirt. Remember that 100% of the pledge money you raise stays as St. Mary's to help support our new Makerspace . Go to
www.catholicschoolswalk.org
to register under the St.Mary's Visitation Team. Whether you donate or not, we would love for you to walk with us! We are also collecting new or gently used shoes. Please bring them and put them in the box in the atrium.
Please click here for Archbishop Listecki's weekly "Love One Another" message.
Have a wonderful week.
If you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at 262-782-7057 or email me at [email protected]. I would be happy to help.
Faithfully yours,
Mrs. Mary Tretow

SMV Backpack Collection
SMV is collecting new or gently used child and adult backpacks.
The backpack donations will be sent to Despensa de la Paz, a local food pantry who helps provide food and clothing to those in need. The backpacks will go to children and adults who are in need of backpacks for the new school year. What a great way to start off the year and help other children and adults in need! Drop off your backpack donation at the table in the school atrium.
Talent Show
The talent show this year will be Thursday, February 1st. Please have your child start preparing and practicing if they are interested in performing. We have a lot of amazing talent at this school so let's show off the gifts that God has given us
Concert Volunteers
We are still in need of volunteers to help out with either the Christmas or Spring Concert. So far I've had two wonderful parents step forward, but I would greatly appreciate a few more. The jobs I am looking for are: 1. Volunteers to help decorate and put up a backdrop for the concert. 2. Volunteers to help take all of the instruments back down to the music room after the concert (usually only takes 10 minutes). If you are interested in helping out with either of those tasks please email Mrs. Dubinski (
[email protected]
). Thank you!!
Library Volunteers
The effectiveness of our school library is driven by the many volunteers who help with book check-out, book shelving, and other tasks. Last year over 30 volunteers came one or more times each month to assist during their child's class. No experience is necessary and younger siblings are welcome. Attached is a
schedule of class days and times. Notice that the younger grades will be coming to the library twice each week, so there are many more spots to fill. Please contact Miss Benson by phone or e-mail to volunteer. (

Cub Scout Information
The first Cub Scout of the 2017-18 school year will be Monday, September 18th at 6:00 p.m. in the tent used for the parish picnic (SMV Parking Lot). If you have a son in 1st - 5th grade who is interested in scouting, whether new or returning, you are welcome to attend. Contact Chris Lewis with any questions (
[email protected]
).

SCRIP
Home and School's year-long fundraiser and tuition rebate program
The start of the year is a perfect time to start a new SCRIP account or to get back into the habit of buying and using SCRIP. Our SCRIP program has over 750 retailers and offers physical cards, e-cards and reloadable cards, making it easy to find ways to use SCRIP for your everyday purchases.
SMV Home and School allows our families to retain up to 80% of their total rebates to allocate towards next year's tuition bill. Many families earned hundreds off their tuition bill this year!
There's a way to work SCRIP into every family financial situation.... even for heavy cash or credit card users! Take a few minutes to look at the SCRIP retailers and their rebates, some go as high as 20%. You'll probably see that you can earn more buying and using SCRIP than you will from your credit card rebates for some retailers. SCRIP orders for physical cards are placed weekly and an inventory of commonly used cards is available for purchase in the school office.
See the Home and School links in the Virtual Backpack for instructions to set up an online account at
www.shopwithscrip.com
and the annual Profit Distribution and SCRIP Waiver forms.
The first SCRIP order of the year will be placed next Monday, September 11th with delivery on Thursday, September 14th. Please get your orders in by 8am Monday morning.
