The following is your August newsletter.

Coming Soon... Our Next Broadloom Introduction

Hold on just a second here! Didn't we start last month's newsletter with the same thing? Coming Soon - Our next blah, blah, blah? Well yes, come to think of it, we did. But that was last month and that was Promenade which, by the way, is coming soon...Sooner actually. This month its Laredo and it too is coming soon. Laredo's texture consists of alternating large and small loops presented in alternating light and dark colors that create a stunning yet not overpowering design statement.  Larendo is offered in four essential background color-ways using 100% pure un-dyed wool. Each color-way is created by blending the colors that naturally occur in wool. The standard offerings are shown below. Actual samples will be available soon.

As you know a large number of the products we sell are carpets we import from some of Europe's finest manufacturers. We stock them in depth and are consistently shipping well over 90% of orders placed from existing inventory. Not bad! But an equal amount of what we sell we make right here in distant and exotic Riverside, California. Here's how you can tell which is which. When you look at one of our samples and it says it's made in the USA, we did that.

We're very proud of what we do here.  Here's why: Since it is impossible to compete with the high-speed, low-cost producers, we don't even try.  We slow things down a bit and take our time (without compromising turn-around times). Our carpets and rugs are crafted rather than mass produced.  When you aren't obliged to produce 50,000 yards a day you have the luxury of focusing on doing it well rather than doing a lot of it.

We stock over 150 different pre-colored wool yarns that are used in our broadloom and custom rugs. And we have the ability to custom-dye just about all of them. All are spun in a wide range of sizes by the best spinners in the world. Our nylon carpets, both piece-dyed and solution-dyed use the finest Stainmaster fibers spun to our specifications and tufted into carpets of unsurpassed aesthetics and quality.

We use custom formulated adhesives to hold it all together and the tightest woven secondary backing material available anywhere and all the carpets we manufacture are precision assembled at the finest dyeing and finishing facility in the Nation. Our commitment to you is to be "Best in Class". You'll have no problem finding less expensive products, but you'd be hard pressed to find better. So when we fit in the budget you should give us a go.

MSDS?
M.S.D.S....Without question this is the most boring topic for a newsletter article we've printed in the five-plus years that we've been in the newsletter business. Here goes...  There are growing numbers of people who have developed significant chemical sensitivities and an even larger number of people who have convinced themselves that either they have developed significant chemical sensitivities or that contact with any chemical will cause horrendous side-effects, heartache, woe, and potential death.  You can tell this latter group by their tin-foil hats. Lately they've begun asking for Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for everything from hardwood floors to carpets and rugs. These sheets are generally requested of chemical companies and describe safety precautions that should be considered when coming in contact with the chemical in question. If your customers ask you to provide a Material Safety Data Sheet on carpet, you are NOT required to do so. They are required for chemicals and hazardous substances only. Carpet is considered an "article" which is "defined essentially as a manufactured item whose end use function will not release or otherwise result in exposure to hazardous chemicals under normal conditions of use". Hey! We warned you. This is seriously boring stuff. That aside, we have a very professionally written sheet advising why the Federal Government and the State of California do not require MSDS. So if you have requests from the "Chemically Sensititve", just let us know, we'll provide you with the information you need. It doesn't even have to be our carpet for which the sheet is being requested.  We don't care, we're here to help. Even with the boring stuff.
