Dear NASCA State Members and Corporate Partners,

Did you notice anything new when you opened this email?  As a part of our strategic plan work, I am proud to unveil NASCA's new logo, which is the result of the efforts and careful consideration of state members and corporate partners involved in the branding work group.  Thank you to Bob Oglesby (TN), Dan Ross (OK) and Jennifer Dowd (Kronos) for your contributions to this process.

We have several updates about our progress on upcoming opportunities and new benefits for NASCA state members and corporate partners:
  • NASCA's Program Committee is taking on the development of our 2018 Top Policy and Administrative Priorities List and oversight of upcoming research initiatives. This complements the committee's work on webinars and in-person Roundtables, and helps us make progress on our strategic plan goals to curate and disseminate best practices, success stories and case studies. In addition, a NASCA work group continues to develop a robust online resource library for sharing information between states, as well as research important to our members.

  • Earlier this summer, a NASCA work group evaluated the wording of our organization's mission statement. Following several discussions, reflection exercises and a branding analysis, the NASCA Executive Committee unanimously approved a new statement that more accurately reflects what we do and why we do it. We're proud to announce the result: NASCA's mission is to help state chief administrators and their teams strategically transform state government operations through the power of shared knowledge and thought leadership.

  • At the end of 2017, NASCA will be launching an online community that will take the place of the current email listserv. Stay tuned for a sneak peek at new tool that will help you connect quickly with your colleagues and facilitate sharing best practices among state members, as well as corporate partners. Planning is underway to create customized forums for all NASCA members, including individual groups for corporate partners, state chief administrators, deputy directors/senior staff and executive assistants/administrative assistants. More information will be shared at the 2017 Institute.

  • We are striving for 100 percent participation of state members at the 2017 Institute, which will be held October 11-13 in Atlanta at the Emory Conference Center. Please note: deputy directors and senior level staff are welcomed and encouraged to attend, and state chief administrators may also send a proxy if necessary. If you haven't registered, it's not too late, but please note hotel space is filling up quickly. Please register by September 8. To maintain the side-by-side collaborative atmosphere of this event, private sector participation is limited to sponsoring NASCA corporate partners.
This is an exciting time for our association, and we appreciate your efforts, contributions and commitment. I look forward to seeing you in Atlanta.

Thank you,
