Principal Notes

Dear Parents,

We are all worried about the Houston community and the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.  In order to support the community there we will have a Dollar Dress Day this Friday.  All money raised will be sent to Catholic Charities/Harvey Fund.  For more information on the work that they do, here is their website.  https://catholiccharitiesusa.org/

Last week's heat wave broke over the weekend with cooler weather for today.  Should another heat wave hit, our policy is that once the temperature reaches the high 90s, we implement our heat safety procedures. These include indoor lunches, indoor PE classes, and indoor dismissal.  We usually try to at least let the students go outside for recesses which all take place before 11 am so that they are not stuck inside the entire day.

On these extreme heat days, when you arrive for pick up, if you see orange flags posted in the drive through, you'll know that you will need to park and walk in.  If you have a sleeping baby or dog in the car, call the office and we will be glad to walk your child out to you.  And, by the way, just in case we ever get any rain, the same procedures are in place for rainy days.

Let's all hope the heat breaks soon and that our neighbors in Texas receive all the help that they need.

Have a wonderful week,
Jennifer

Shorts and skirts should be walking length, between the top of the knee and no higher than 2 inches above the knee, no cut-offs or short shorts. Hats, halters, tank tops, and shirts with spaghetti straps or that do not cover the midriff are not allowed. Shoes must have a closed heel and toe; no sandals, or plastic shoes are allowed. Socks or tights are to be worn at all times. The school reserves the right to send anyone home who comes inappropriately dressed.

FROM THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT
Hello All,

My name is Jason Weatherall and I am the new Athletic Director and 5th-8th PE Teacher. As I had the chance to meet some of you all on Meet the Teacher Day, a good number of you expressed interest in helping with the PE and/or volunteering to coach. I want to take this opportunity to put out an interest email in order to garner an idea of the possible volunteers for either capacity.

I value any way in which you can help; yourself, a name of a friend or family member, anything that helps to enrich the St. Philip experience for our young Falcons will be greatly appreciated. I have been made aware of service hours for certain types of volunteering. Please take time to click the blue link and fill out the attached  FORM . I look forward to your response.

All the Best and Go Falcons!
Coach Weatherall
