From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal
Dear Parents,
Thanks to the many of you who were able to join us for Parent Night on Thursday. If you were unable to attend, please check out the
Parent Night Presentation. We have yet to receive specific questions regarding the
Standards Based Grading Presentation. If questions do arise, please don't hesitate to let me know.
StandardsScore is completing the final touches on the grading program. Therefore, you won't be able to look up your child's grades quite yet. The middle school teachers will be sending home a grade report in a few weeks. If you feel that you need a grade report more often, please let me or your child's teacher know. As soon as StandardsScore is up and running, we will get your passwords to you.
MAP Testing began today for grades 5K-8, and will continue throughout the week at various times. Teachers will use these scores to plan for enrichment and individualized learning plans for all of our students. Parents will also receive the scores.
Next week Wednesday, grades 1-8 will travel to St. John Vianney for Mass with Padre Joe Uhen, Pastor of our sister parish Santisimo Sacramento in Piura, Peru (we collaborate with SJV on sponsoring this parish). This is an annual event and we always enjoy this time with Padre Joe. I was fortunate to travel to Peru last year to visit the parish and school communities - a life altering event! Permission slips will be coming home today. Students should wear their mission shirts and uniform bottoms (no shorts).
Blessings!
Mrs. Ellen Knippel

Mission Wear Day, September 6th
At the first all-school Mass of every month (usually on a Wednesday), we will be introducing the monthly theme that goes with our overall school theme of "Growing in God's Love". We will do this at Mass with Fr. Tony. Students should wear their
Mission Shirts with uniform bottoms tomorrow (once again, no shorts on Mass days).
Adults volunteering in any capacity with children 17 and under are required to take this class. This includes coaches, field trip chaperones, classroom volunteers, etc! The class can be taken at any parish (keep certificate!) and only needs to be taken once. The two sessions here at St. Anthony (Fellowship Hall/church basement) are:
Wednesday, September 6 from 6-9pm
Thursday, September 7 from 9am-12noon
Blessing of Mary Statue, September 8th
Fr. Tony will bless our new Statue of Mary and Baby Jesus this Friday at 8:15am. Please join us if you can.
Hot Summer Slice Deadline, September 8th
Registrations are due by September 8th! Farmer's Almanac says it's going to be a BEAUTIFUL day for golf!! For those of you donating wine for the wine pull, please drop it off in the office (or hand it to Mrs. Knippel in the car rider line) rather than send it with your child. Hope to see EVERYONE there!!
September 12th
Students can be out of uniform on this day if they bring in $1 (or more) for the MACC Fund. Money
raised will be presented to the MACC Fund at our Annual Childhood Cancer Awareness Mass on Sept. 20th.
Annual Childhood Cancer Awareness Mass,
September 20th
Please join us for Mass at 7:45am. Our guest speaker will be John Cary, Executive Director of the
MACC Fund. All in attendance (students and parents) are invited to
wear GOLD with uniform bottoms (no shorts) to show their support to those battling Pediatric Cancer. School families are also invited to
submit names
of any loved ones affected by cancer of any kind until Friday, September 15th. If you are able to join us for Mass, you will receive a flower to bring down to the altar as your name(s) are read. We will also have flowers on hand for those who wish to present a flower and submit their intention to the Lord silently.
Gr 5-8 is selling Calendar Raffles to earn money for their 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip. The cost is $20 each and the purchaser could win $25-$500 during the course of a year - that's 365 chances to win! Sell those raffles! Questions?
Email Cheryl.
How to Make an End of Day Change
For changes to a child's usual end of day routine (stay after school, use a different bus, or switch to car rider), use the
online form
on our website. Or, print an
End of Day Change Form
and send it in to the school office.
Changes must be made by 1:00pm (or 10:15am on early release days). If it is after 1:00pm (or 10:15am on early release days), you must call the school office.
Busing to a different stop/friend's house?

Middle School Altar Servers
Soles for Education Walk Coordinator Contact Mrs. Knippel if interested.
|
Mrs. Krahn's 4th graders have started to learn the ropes of Altar Serving. They will have several opportunities to "shadow" experienced Altar Servers during all school Masses. They love this!
By 5th grade, they will be ready to begin serving at weekend Masses.
Mrs. Sellers' 3rd graders worked together to plan, design and build the tallest structure possible with limited materials, a 35 minute time limit, and the structure had to free-stand for 30 seconds! Planning and designing are the first steps in the S.T.E.M. activities that 3rd grade will be doing this year.

Prayer
Please pray for everyone affected by Hurricane Harvey. That they might find relief and a renewed faith in God as communities come together to rebuild.
Celebrations
Congratulations to St. Anthony alum
Tate Kopulos on his
record-breaking performance in Friday's Crusaders win! Also great job to offensive lineman, and alum,
Owen Rush!
