Legacy Stadium



On Saturday, September 9 Luther will host the All-American Cross Country meet. In addition, it's also the first home football game and Community Day. Busses will be asked to park in the Barn lot and the City Pool lot so these lots will be restricted to bus parking only starting at 8:00 pm on Friday, September 8. Students who usually park in the Barn lot may park in any student or general parking area on the main campus through the weekend.

Class of 2018 SENIOR REGISTRATION - Don't miss this 30-minute session. Attend to register and learn about the services and resources available to successfully plan for LIFE AFTER LUTHER! Attend ONE of the following sessions on Tuesday, September 5, 7:00-7:30 p.m. or 8-8:30 p.m. Both sessions are held in Valders 206. Door Prizes will be given away at each session! Sponsored by the Luther College Career Center.
 
Faculty, staff are invited to enjoy a day of food, fellowship and fun at Community Day and the Dedication of Legacy Field on Saturday, September 9, at the Regents Center. Registration required. Picnic cost: $6 per adult, kids free. Parents can reserve free "Sail Norse" t-shirts for their children (must be picked up at the picnic). Friday, September 8 is the last day to add fall classes. Add planned courses immediately. If you've left registration for a course with a department head, make contact with that person and be sure the course is added by September 8. 
 
CEPE Book Groups are Here! Students, staff, faculty and community members are invited to sign up for a book group that will meet twice in the coming weeks. The Diversity Center has a small supply of textbooks available for loan for free. A list can be found here (red text indicates checked out). If interested, please stop by the Diversity Center in the Union to pick up a form to take to the circulation desk in the library. You are responsible for returning all books to the library at the end of the semester. No reservations, first-come, first-served only.
 
CEPE Pop-Up Programming with PizzaCommemorating History, Celebrating Bigotry,
or . . . ? The Many Meanings of Confederate Statues
. Is there a correct way to commemorate the past? Should Confederate statues stay or go? Join profs. Robert Christman, Nancy Gates Madsen, Sören Steding, and Lea Lovelace for a roundtable discussion using a variety of historical examples to explore this question. Thursday, September 7, 4:00-5:00, Valders 262.
 
Focusing on the conflict in Kosovo and the interactions between Albanians and Serbs following the NATO bombing in 1999, Nobel Peace Prize nominee Steinar Bryn from the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue in Norway will show his film "Reunion" and host a discussion on peacemaking at 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, in the Center for Faith and Life, Recital Hall.

Attention Students Registered for Private Music Lessons - If you decide to drop lessons the following schedule will be used to compute the charge for fall 2017: Dropping lessons: by September 3 - No charge; by September 10 - $45 charge; by September 17 - $90 charge; by September 26 - $135 charge; after September 26 - Full charge/$495. This schedule will be followed with no exceptions.
 
J-term 2018 - There are still openings in 12 courses - traveling to: South Africa/ Namibia, Japan, Bahamas, Belize, Argentina, England/Belgium/Netherlands/Germany, England/Scotland, Spain, California/Washington, New Mexico, Holden Village. Apply NOW (deadline is September 22)!  
 
Malta Semester:  If you're tired of cold and snow, spend next February-May studying on a beautiful Mediterranean island! There are still spots available for Malta 2018. The Malta semester is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. Find out more at the Malta Program information meeting on Thursday, September 7 at 6 p.m. in Koren 218. Or, contact Corby Preus at the Center for Global Learning or Paul Gardner for information about this Luther study abroad program.
 
Current info and links for Harvey recovery efforts and donations are posted online at the  ELCA Gulf Coast Synod website  . College Ministries encourages donations for Harvey Relief be sent to  Lutheran Disaster Response  as 100% of gifts go directly to relief efforts. You can make a difference now! Luther's Student Congregation is planning a Caf fast day to help students raise funds for Harvey relief.  Watch the Bulletin and  Tuesday

Wondering how to keep track of your sources, create a bibliography and footnotes? Zotero (free application) helps you collect, manage, and cite your sources. Bring your laptop to our workshop and learn how to download Zotero and set it up to manage your resources (available for PCs and MACs). Wednesday, September 6 in Hovde Room, Preus Library at 7:00 p.m.
Alumni Art Exhibit

An art exhibit featuring works made by 15 Luther College art alumni will be on display in Preus Library.

This year's alumni exhibition features works created by artists who have pieces currently in the Luther College Fine Arts Collection and also are celebrating reunions at this year's Homecoming. The show will include both 2-D and 3-D pieces, as well as video.
