September 2017 - IE SHRM News & Updates
September Monthly Meeting - 9/21 Mission Inn - Riverside
"
Current Status of Health Care Reform:  ACA and ACHA 2.0"

Join us for lunch on September 21 at 11:30 am at the Mission Inn in Riverside and our topic on Current Status of Health Care Reform: ACA and ACHA 2.0 . There's a lot of commotion in Washington D.C. and around the USA on Health Care Reform 2.0.  Will the Affordable Care Act (aka, ObamaCare) be repealed and replaced?   What will it be replaced with?   What will that look like?  Will you still have to do 1094's and 1095's?  Will the employer mandate go away?   How will these changes affect Medicaid (in CA, MediCal)?  How will it affect employers?  Most importantly for the HR professional, how will it impact you and your employees?

Certification News

We have another record-breaking attendance for our 2017 Fall SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Saturday Classes.  We have 18 students pursuing educational learning for their organizations and their own professional development, as well as their credentials. Let's wish them all much success as they prepare, study, and take their exams.  The exam testing window opens December 1, 2017 through February 15, 2018.

Looking for your PHR/SPHR credential, Spring 2018 classes will start March 2018.  The details will be listed on our 'Certification" link in our website soon.  Meanwhile, should you have any certification or re-certification questions, feel free to contact me, your Certification Director, Richard Dawson, via my cell phone at  909-270-9801 or my e-mail:  [email protected]

SHRM Certification App
President at Letizia HR Solutions, Inc.

When it comes to recertifying my SHRM-CP/SHRM- SCP, I like to stay on top of my game. But I'll admit, I can still be a bit of a procrastinator, that's why I'm grateful for the SHRM Certification App. I can access my portal whenever it's convenient for me, and that helps me stay on track. So far, I've earned more than half of the 60 professional development credits I need to maintain those letters after my name! I get excited watching my PDCs grow. I'm on it, and know I'll earn 60 before my recertification expiration date.

If you don't have it already, get the app at the App Store.
Volunteers Needed to Serve on IE SHRM's Board

Please send an email to  [email protected]  if you are interested in serving on the board, include "Chapter Volunteer" in the subject line.
You may have seen a recent email from Inland Empire SHRM about our comprehensive member survey. Check your email to be sure you received the survey link.

We are conducting a survey of our 475 members to find out what you need from your local SHRM chapter. We want to know how we can better engage with you, our members. What issues are you currently dealing with at work, or in your career? Is there something that IE SHRM can be doing to help you address these issues?
IE SHRM currently offers monthly meetings, HR professional development topics, certification preparation classes and an annual conference. Did you know that we also sponsor a student chapter of SHRM at California State University San Bernardino and that we have recently founded an Emerging HR Professionals group?  Did you know that we recently updated our website to include more resources for you?

These offering are good, but what can IE SHRM do better? What can we do to better meet your professional needs? Would you like to see more workshops, different speakers, or specific program topics? Do our current meeting times and locations work for you, or would you rather see something different? How can we better connect with you?

Inland Empire SHRM wants to make a difference for you. Your opinion matters to us. Let us know what you need from our chapter.
