Kevin & Nancy Bart
Dear friends,

We recently had 2 somewhat disappointing mission trips. One was to Costa Rica, and the other to Nicaragua. Sometimes things do not go as planned, and when that happens we need to try to make the best of the situation. Even though the trips were not as we had hoped, we still saw God do His mighty work in the hearts and lives of people. It never gets old seeing God at work.

We have now had 27 mission trips since we left Brazil, and we are trusting God to be able to reach our goal of 50 mission trips. Lord willing we should reach this goal by March 2020, providing we continue to have good health and sufficient resources. We see so many signs in the world of the Lord's impending return, and we have a sense of urgency to do as much as we can for as long as we are able. Even if Jesus does not return in our lifetime, our time here is so short and we want to make the most of the time we have left.

Please keep praying for us as we seek to do all we can to reach as many people for Jesus as possible, and to make disciples, and to equip & train others to be active missionaries wherever they are. We really appreciate your prayers and your help in this ministry that God has called us to.

In His Love,

Kevin & Nancy

Recent & Upcoming Events
Mission Trip to Costa Rica
In August we had a mission trip to Costa Rica. We worked with Pr. Pedro and Pr. Warner and Iglesia Bautista Vida Abundante in the capital city of San Jose.

We led a People Sharing Jesus seminar at the church on a Saturday, and Kevin also preached there on Wednesday night and on Sunday.

The schedule during the week was not as busy as we like it to be. Some cultures are way more laid back than we are, and this was the case in Costa Rica. In 4 days during the week, we spoke in 4 schools. Normally we speak in up to 3 or 4 schools per day when possible (we spoke in 7 schools in Kenya 1 day last year). So we had a fair amount of down time, and we used this time to go and share Christ with people at stores, in the streets, in restaurants, and at a nearby shopping mall.

Mission Trip to Nicaragua
After our week in Costa Rica we took a 10 hour bus ride to Nicaragua. We were supposed to work for a week with church in Managua and their mission church in Xiloa. Unfortunately the church did not organize any outreach events before we came due to a mixup between 2 of their pastors. Kevin preached at the church in Xiloa, and that was all we did with them.

We ended up going back to Managua after a couple of days in Xiloa, and for 2 days we did not have any missions work with a church or in schools. We tried to make the best of it and we went walking down streets near where we were staying and also to a shopping mall both days. God opened up some opportunities for us to share with about 2 dozen people.

We were in Managua last year, so we contacted Pr. Cal at Capilla Calvario who we worked with. Kevin was able to preach at the church on Sunday and we also shared Christ at their school on Monday. While at the church we met a young missionary couple from California, Mike and Rocorio, who are planting a church in the poor area known as Villa Guadelupe. They invited Kevin to preach on Sunday night at the new church and also arranged for us to share at a private school in the area. We were very thankful for the opportunities to preach in 2 churches and share in 2 schools on our last 2 days in Nicaragua.

Overall we had 1 mission trip that was not as busy as we like, and 1 that was completely different than we had planned, but God still did some wonderful things. Kevin preached 5 times in 4 churches, we led 1 People Sharing Jesus seminar, we spoke in 6 schools, and we also shared Christ with various other people. Around 500 people accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him, and we praise God for what He did.

"you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. For it is not you who speak, but it is the  Spirit
of your Father who speaks in you. "          Matthew 10:18-20

Prayer Requests & Praises
  • Please pray for people in Florida, as it seems likely that it will be hit by Hurricane Irma. Please also continue to pray for those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana.
  • Please pray for us as we plan to go on 23 more mission trips to 15-20 different countries in the next 2 1/2 years. We will need good health and the Lord's provision to be able to do this. We praise God that we already have enough airline award miles to cover 80-90% of our travel costs through 2018.
  • Please pray that God will go ahead of us and open many doors to share the Gospel, and touch & prepare many hearts, and that He will touch and save many students, teachers, lost people, and families during our upcoming mission trips.
  • Please also pray that we will find great partners to work with that have a heart and desire to do the important follow-up and discipleship work after our mission trips.
