AUGUST NEWS
July / 31 / 2017
Dear Family and Friends of Forest Hills,

Our kitchen renovation plans are moving forward and we are pleased to announce that renovations will begin in September/October. We will continue to keep you updated as we have more details, but in the meantime please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

At Forest Hills, we are oriented to preserving the rights and safety of all our residents. Our guest room reservation policy is designed with that in mind and we ask our guests to kindly follow these procedures:
  • Reservation requests are made through the concierge desk during regular business hours, in advance of at least 1 business day (minimum of 24 hours in advance).
  • In your reservation, please indicate the name of the guest(s) and how long they will stay. The current fee is $80/night, with the first night payable at the time of your reservation.
  • Guest arrivals are requested during regular business hours. If an after-hours arrival is needed, please note we do not accept arrivals after 8PM.
  • In addition to visiting your loved one's room or apartment, we invite our guests to enjoy the beautiful common areas available at Forest Hills: our garden, lounge, day rooms, dining rooms and library. Offices, treatment areas, staff lounges and charting rooms are closed to guests. The conference room and assembly hall are available by reservation only.
  • Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate pets in the guest rooms at this time.
As always, it is my honor and privilege to serve you and your loved ones here at Forest Hills and Forest Side.

Looking forward to see you all around our community,

FAMILY CORNER

Did you know...

Our new
MDS Coordinator,
Deanna Battle,

started on July 11th. Deanna comes to us from a long-term care facility where she was Lead MDS Coordinator. She looks forward to meeting Health Care Center residents and family members at your next care plan meeting.

We also welcome our new daytime Security Officer: Ronika Fletcher. Fletcher comes to Forest Hills with years of experience in senior housing communities. Many of you have already encountered her smiling face and pleasant personality. We're happy to have her with us!
A Message from our Director of Life Enrichment
Linda Moreno

As of September 3, 2017, Ceres Larkrith will no longer be providing Worship Services here at Forest Hills of DC. We truly appreciate the dedication and love she shared with our community.

I want to assure you that we will continue to offer opportunities for engaging in faithful pursuits. We continue to change and evolve as the needs of our residents change. Our Life Enrichment Program focuses on resident-centered care when considering programs.

Beginning in September, we will offer a Bible Study to empower our residents who enjoy reading scripture to do so. The residents will also be able to share their faith experiences with the group as well as sing hymns they know.

We will also begin offering a Faith through Music Program. This will enable our residents who cannot read scripture and/or find it difficult to focus on a sermon to listen and sing familiar songs. Both programs will be offered on a Sunday.

We will continue to offer the weekly Catholic Communion and monthly Catholic Mass. We do not offer Shabbat at this time, as we no longer have Jewish residents who wish to attend. We are expanding our faithful pursuit opportunities that will promote the residents highest level of engagement, which is the goal of the Life Enrichment Program.

If you have any questions, please contact me at lmoreno@foresthillsdc.org.
