Jobs(+) helps two men find work

When Juan, a 40-year-old father of six young children found  himself out of work and living "downtown," he came to Francis House seeking help. Juan has been a proud and hardworking Sacramentan working in the landscaping business. Through our Jobs(+)  program  we were able to get Juan an interview with Bar Rouse, a hip new downtown restaurant;  they were so impressed by him they hired him on the spot as their kitchen jack-of-all-trades. Congrats Juan for your budding culinary career! 
Robert G., an electrician by trade, moved from Texas to Sacramento and fell on hard times. Just this week we were able to help him get a food handler card, a job at Subway and free transit through our Fast Track program. Robert's next step is to find a place to live and then start buying electrician's tools. 

The Francis House Jobs(+) program helped 45 people  find work this year.

The number of people experiencing homelessness increased by 30 percent since 2015 as reported in the 2017 Point in Time report. Despite our many programs, we are up against staggering numbers. We need your support more than ever to get the unhomed humans of Sacramento into shelters and permanent housing. Read the SacBee report. 


Staff from the Sacramento River Cats spent two days fixing up our jobs center with fresh paint, new desks, chairs and new computers. Our clients now have a first class spot for their job search.   Thank you River Cats! 
New roles, familiar faces

Lorén Pimm has been with us for 25 years in a variety of leadership roles. So we were thrilled when she agreed to be our new Program Manager - Francis House. Her passion for our clients and her fellow employees shows in her commitment to our mission.  Congrats Lauren!

Robynne Rose-Haymer is stepping in as our interim Executive Director while we search for a permanent leader. Robynne has an extensive background in workforce development; she is currently the Director of Workforce Development at Goodwill Sacramento, one of our partners. She will be focusing her efforts on integrating workforce development and financial capability into the Next Move housing programs. Our former director, Tricia Rosenbaum, is taking a much-needed sabbatical before she starts her own nonprofit consulting business. Thank you Tricia for your service and thank you Robynne for holding down two jobs at once!
