Area District Looking to Fairview Park's Personalized Learning Program
Crestwood Local School District (CLSD) Superintendent David Toth and other CLSD administration took a field trip to Fairview Park this week to observe students and teachers at Mayer Middle School and Fairview High School engaging in project-based learning and utilizing the Basecamp personalized learning platform (PLP).

The Fairview Park City School district was  selected to participate in the elite national learning platform earlier this year.

Toth said he was impressed with what he observed. "Every student was active and engaged in their learning," he said. "They own their learning."

Superintendent Wagner Named "Outstanding Administrator" by the Ohio Music Education Association
After guest conducting the Mayer Middle School concert band's rendition of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" at the Fairview Park City Schools Holiday Concert on Saturday, December 10, Superintendent Dr. Bill Wagner was surprised with a special honor. The Ohio Music Education Association presented him with the 2017 "Outstanding Administrator" award for the state of Ohio.

Dr. Wagner was nominated by Hillery Needham, Orchestra Director, as well as other district music staff including Chrissy Karliak, Anne Howe and Peter Cibulskas.

"Dr. Wagner has single-handedly changed the appearance and community perception of the district to have a strong music education program from Kindergarten through 12th grade in general music, choral, orchestra, and band," said Needham. "While many districts across the state are having to cut music, he has helped to efficiently expand music offerings and has invested in music teacher positions, equipment, and instruments."
