A message about taking courses from other Faculties
Please be aware that a maximum of 6.0 units from courses offered by other Faculties and Schools may be counted towards the Program and/or Plan requirements of any degree in the Faculty of Arts and Science. This means that you may take up to two one-term classes (3.0 units each) OR one multi-term class (6.0 units) from the School of Business (COMM courses), the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, the Faculty of Health Sciences (BMED and NURS courses) and the Faculty of Law (LAW courses) as part of your degree requirements. Please note that if you are in first year, you cannot take these courses until your second year, but we want you to be aware of these regulations for future.
You may exceed this limit but the courses would be extra to your degree requirements.
Exceptions to this regulation:
1.
Students admitted to the Faculty of Arts and Science in September 2014 or earlier will be allowed to take up to the previous maximum of 24 units in courses outside Arts and Science.
2.
Students who had already taken more than 6.0 units in courses from other Faculties as of September 2016 when the regulation changed will still be able to count all of these courses for degree credit. However, you should not enrol in more courses from other Faculties and Schools this year to meet your degree requirements. You are welcome to take additional courses of this type outside of your 114.0/120.0 unit degree requirements.
3.
Students transferring
to the Faculty of Arts and Science from other Faculties and Schools will continue to be able to count all transferrable courses taken while registered in another Faculty or School. Students transferring from the Commerce program will be able to count up to 24.0 units in COMM courses toward their degree.
