The Eagle Chapter 20th Anniversary USAF SF celebration gets off on it's official start at Joint Base Langley-Eustis. Above Lt Col Timothy McCarty, 633d SFS Commander cuts the celebratory cake with Colonel Erik Rundquist, Key Note Speaker and CMSgt (Retired) Daryl Janicki, Special Guest speaker participate.

There is so much thanks to go around!  The first of our three Eagle Chapter USAF Security Forces Celebration Luncheons started the first week of June at Joint Base Langley Eustis. We owe huge thanks to our co-project officers - Technical Sergeant Jared Martin and Technical Sergeant Alexis Rice. Shown in the photo above, left to right are: Senior Airman Zachary Clifton (633d Defender of the Month), Eagle Chairman, Lee Chambers, Tech Sergeant Jared Martin, Airman First Raymon Crespo (sang the National Anthem), Chief Master Sergeant Kevin Range (SFM), Lt Col McCarty, Col Rundquist and Chief Janicki.  See more details about the chapter luncheon below and on our website.

Our chapter's 20th anniversary celebration got a huge shot in the arm recently when Sig Sauer agreed to donate one of their premier 9mm handguns to aid in our celebration.  See the details immediately below.  We look forward to notifying one of you with the good news that you've win; but, first you have to buy a ticket.

     Thank-you for your continuing support.

Very respectfully,

Lee

Sig Sauer P320 Nitron Carry

It is with great pleasure that I take this opportunity to inform our members and supporters of the great support that we've received from Sig Sauer.  The winners of the Army's Modular Handgun award could not give us the same weapon that won the competition. That model is only available to the military. So I suggested a hand carry model and they agreed to the P320 Nitron.  All of the goodies that come with this weapon are shown on our website. Click on the image above or see the link in the discussion below.

In addition, we've created a special 20th Anniversary USAF SF Celebration Raffle Event announcement that depicts our USAF top cops and Security Forces Managers (Brig Gen Coleman and Chief Janicki to Brig Gen Tullos and Chief Hartz) for the 20 year period - 1997 - 2017.  See the image below and please visit our website.

Click here to visit the web page with all of the details.

The tickets are $5.00 each or buy five for $20.00.  You can go to the online Eagle Exchange to buy tickets. You can send a money order to our Post Office Box or you can buy tickets at an Eagle Chapter Luncheon or the Eagle Chapter table at the AFSFA Annual Meeting.

Tickets are on sale from July 20 to October 10. Please see the official raffle rules (below) for details.

Eagle Chapter's First 20th Anniversary Security Forces Celebration Luncheon Kicks off at Joint Base Langley Eustis
At left, our key note speaker, Col Erik Rundquist speaks at the Eagle Chapter 20th Anniversary Luncheon on June 5 at Langley.   Colonel Rundquist is the Chief of Security Forces Headquarters Air Combat Command. Col Rundquist provided the first of the one-two punch to our attendees in his recap of the USAF Security Forces and more importantly focusing on future challenges and opportunities to excel.

Chief (Retired) Daryl Janicki provided the other half of the one-two punch at the chapter luncheon. Chief Janicki was the HQ USAF Security Forces Manager/Senior Enlisted Advisor in 1997 who aided Brigadier General Coleman in leading the way to the transition to the Security Forces career field. Chief Janicki has volunteered to attend each one of our 20th anniversary USAF SF luncheons this year to discuss the need for the transition and it's immediate affects.

Through the generosity of our donors, we are providing free attendance to all Tech Sergeants and below. In addition for each luncheon this year to help each main operating base in their celebration of the 20 years of Air Force Security Forces, we are providing a celebratory anniversary cake, Defensor Fortis flag with 20th Anniversary streamer, and a 20th Anniversary USAF SF-engraved pen with an integrated LED flashlight.

Please click here to see more photos of the luncheon. Thanks also to the 633d SFS Honor Guard, 633d Air Base Wing Chaplain's office and again to our co-project officers Tech Sergeants Rice and Martin.

Below, Eagle Chapter Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer, Eli Garrett (center), presents our chapter donation to the President of the 633d SFS Key Spouse and the 633d SFS Booster Club President.
Eagle Chapter - Vietnam War Veterans Memorial Wall Wash - August 26
Reminder, our final  Vietnam War Veterans Memorial wall wash in Washington DC will be held on Saturday August 26.

The wash starts with a devotional service and sign-in at 6:30AM. We are always done by 8:00AM.

As you know, the AF Security Forces Association 31st National Meeting will be underway and any attendees who are also participating in the wall wash can leave in time to return to the 8AM session start time.

Eagle Chapter will provide refreshments.  See you then! Below, our boy scout troop and family members join us at the east side of the wall as the Washington Monument beckons in the distance.

My continuing gratitude to Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Gary Jones (center below in the black T-shirt) who drives up from Charleston SC to spearhead the wash.  Thank-you again Chief!

National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Conference Call
On June 20, Craig Floyd, President and CEO of the NLEOM held a conference call where he provided an update of the construction of the National Law Enforcement Officers Museum, the Candlelight Vigil photo and highlights video and other topics. One topic that he emphasized was the safety of our police officers that the NLEOM is bringing focus through the Destination Zero. The program is a collaboration to advance Police Officer Safety and Wellness.

Farewell Colonel Robert Smoak, Eagle Chapter and AFSFA Charter Member and World War II Veteran
I was reading through the Last Guardmount section of the Air Force Security Forces Magazine recently when I discovered that one of our finest had passed. Colonel Smoak was the only member of that greatest generation of World War II veterans who was active in the chapter - that I'm aware of. In the photo above, he was delighted (as he always was) to pose in a photo with the youngest of the active duty troops that attended that luncheon.  This was our May 22, 2010 luncheon at Andrews. Col Smoak was one of our Maryland members.

I have tons of information that he provided to me that spoke of the forming of the nuclear surety enterprise back when there wasn't one.  He was also instrumental in developing the security standards for the first Air Force One. He had written extensively about these in the old Tiger Flight. In the second chapter image showing the cake at the very top, the plaque with the shield on it is one that he gave the chapter that depicts an earlier design of the Security Forces shield.

I attempted to contact his bride, Betty, who has also attended a chapter luncheon but neither of the phone numbers nor email address that I have for them still operate. If anyone knows how to contact her, I'd be happy to follow up with the family to express our condolences.

It was always a very special treat when Colonel Smoak attended our luncheons. I know he's continuing to watch over his favorite chapter.  Farewell sir.

Our Dover Eagle Chapter 20th Anniversary USAF Security Forces Celebration Luncheon is still in the Planning Stage

We're in the very early planning stages of our Dover Eagle Chapter luncheon. This luncheon is being planned to occur before the October Luncheon at the Pentagon.

Like our Langley luncheon, this luncheon will also include a 20th Anniversary celebration cake, free Defensor Fortis flags and engraved pen/LED flashlight for all attendees.  The luncheon will also be free to all Tech Sergeants and below.

In addition to our key note speaker (who is still being determined), Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Daryl Janicki will provide highlights of the creation of the Security Forces career field.

This will be our annual occasion to make our donations to the 436th SFS Key Spouse Club and the 436th SFS Booster Club.

Reminder: Eagle Chapter Celebrates 20th Anniversary USAF SF Luncheon at the Pentagon on October 10

Lt Gen Stayce Harris, Assistant Vice Chief of Staff, HQ USAF is our keynote speaker to close out our 20th Anniversary Celebration of the US Air Force Security Forces. At left, Gen Stayce accepts the Eagle Chapter Coin following 2016 Veterans Day Ceremonies at the Air Force Memorial in Arlington VA.

Brigadier General Andrea Tullos, the Air Force Top Cop, will also be in attendance. Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Daryl Janicki will speak as one of the architects of the "new" combined security forces career field.

In closing, a special thanks to Technical Sergeant Alexis Rice (photo at right) who volunteered to be the master of ceremony at the Joint Base Langley Eustis kick-off of the Eagle Chapter 20th Anniversary USAF SF luncheon. It was great working with him, Tech Sergeant Martin, and the entire squadron.
