INFORMATION and RESOURCES
Parents of children with disabilities and special healthcare needs have a passion for obtaining the information they need to support their children's learning and improve their health and education outcomes. RI Parent Information Network has been a  critical resource to parents for over twenty-five years . This monthly email provides details to upcoming events, workshops, articles and website links, along with transition to adulthood and military resources. We're centrally located at  RI Parent Information Network, 1210 Pontiac Avenue in Cranston, RI.

The Governor's Commission on Disabilities and a variety of other organizations will be co-hosting public forums throughout the state of RI during the week of July 24th - 28th, as part of the 27th anniversary celebrating the signing of the American's with Disabilities Act.   These forums are an opportunity for ALL people with disabilities and the families to voice their concerns to a panel comprised of representatives from several state agencies.

Summer Learning

With the kids out of school and the summer season underway, parents and families may want to consider formalized learning activities or programs to help prevent #SummerSlideSummer Learning Day, from the National Summer Learning Association, is designed to spread awareness about the importance of summer programs that promote students' developmental growth, while keeping students safe and healthy.  See the event map that lists activities throughout the country and explore what federal agencies -- like those highlighted below -- have to offer regarding leveraging educational content into summer learning.

A RIPIN project, the RI Center for Healthcare Rights advances the rights of RI's healthcare consumers through education and training, policy initiatives, and more.   The Resource Hub provides advocates, enrollers, and other "helpers" with the information and support they need to represent themselves and their clients effectively.

This guide is intended to help parents and professionals navigate the complex needs of
Rhode Island children and families. The guide contains brief descriptions of the resources, programs, and systems of support that families most commonly need to access. Contact information and live links to websites are included.

RIPIN offers both  national and state resourcesalong with a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), reference guides, and tool kits for families of students with disabilities and the professionals who work with them.
