FROM THE SCHOOL
Thank You Registration Volunteers! Log Your Hours/Take a Survey

Thank you so much to our 68 great Registration Day volunteers! This is one of our big events in the year, and a great time for the community to come together and say hello after the summer break. We had volunteers helping in the parking lot or as greeters and door minders, answering registration questions, and handling data entry. We really could not have done it without you and appreciate your help!

Don't forget to log your (many) hours of volunteer work on the ICS PTSA website. And please take 5 minutes to fill out this volunteer survey to tell us how your day went and how we could improve registration from your perspective.

Registration Day: Families - How Did It Go?

We hope you had a smooth and successful Registration Day and that your student is all ready to start the school year. Please take our Registration Day Survey for families to let us know how we can improve the process next year.

Lost Something at 6th Grade Picnic?

A few items were left behind. Please check with the office manager if you are missing something.

Turn Your Key, Be Idle Free

Idling vehicles contribute to air pollution and emit air toxins, which are known to cause serious health effects. It also wastes fuel and money.

Contrary to popular belief, restarting the car does not burn more fuel than leaving it idling. In fact, research shows that turning off an engine and restarting it after a minute causes less pollution and uses less fuel.

Parents please remember that ICS is a No Idle Zone. Turn off your vehicles when you're waiting for more than 1 minute. One car's difference within a community of cars can make a big difference for the students... if not the whole world as well.

Calling all ICS Parents: Online Sign-Ups for Volunteer Opportunities Now Available!

Please choose up-to 3 areas on the Volunteer Opportunity Interest List that is available on   ICS PTSA web-site (you need to log in in order to access it).  If you don't have an ICS PTSA web-site account, please register HERE.

Returning parents: please complete the interest list even if you did so last fall; we create new volunteer lists each year with current information and preferences.

Please remember that, as an ICS family, you have committed to 30 hours of volunteer time per year. All families, especially those new to ICS, should review our Volunteering Requirements. This document will provide you with some background information and answer many common questions about volunteering.

The Volunteer Opportunity list will close on Friday, September 29th, and, after that, you will need to contact the committee chairs directly to volunteer. Please get an early start on your volunteer hours, as it is very frustrating to be "short" on hours at the end of the school year.

Have fun volunteering and getting to know what ICS is all about! If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].

VOLUNTEERING
Volunteers needed: Co-chair and Treasurer for Graduation Committee

JUNIOR PARENTS! Do not miss these volunteer opportunities: Graduation committee co-chair and a treasurer. Both positions will fulfill required ICS volunteer hours for the next 2 years and required senior graduation ceremony participation. Please contact Lyudmila Moskalenko to sign up or with any questions.

Spanish-Speaking Volunteers Needed: ICS Spanish Club

Parent volunteers who are fluent in Spanish are needed to support our ICS Spanish Club. The club will meet once per month and provide participating ICS students with an opportunity to practice their Spanish skills in a fun and relaxed environment. A curriculum used in prior years will help support club activities. If interested, please contact Candice Boyd, our Spanish Club chairperson.

Lunchroom Volunteer Coordinator Needed

The Coordinator manages the ICS Lunchroom schedule and makes sure that the lunchroom is fully staffed. Please contact Amy Iracheta if you are interested or have any questions about it.

Volunteers Needed in the ICS Lunchroom

We are in need of parent volunteers to help in the lunchroom. It is a fun and easy way for parents to obtain all their volunteer hours for the year just by helping out during the lunch hour. Commitment is for one day a week for the semester or the entire year. Lunch is served Monday - Friday; we have many parents that use their work lunch break to help us in the lunchroom. If you are available, please consider helping us!

Volunteers are needed for the following positions:

Mondays
  • Kitchen/Server 11:00am - 12:00pm
  • Lyceum set up and clean up: 11:00am - 12:00pm
Fridays
  • Lyceum set up and clean up: 11:00am - 12:00pm
Volunteers serving food will need a WA Food Worker Card, which can be obtained here

Additionally, we are always in need of subs who can fill in during the week. If you have a flexible schedule, we could sure use your help! Please contact Amy Iracheta if you are available to help by picking up a shift or if you want to be added to the subs list.
