 This Changed Everything!

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-five Theses
on the door of the All Saint's Church in Wittenberg, and was willing  to give his life for his stance.  This was the beginning of the Protestant  Reformation.    The Reformation did not merely lead to a break with the  Roman Catholic Church; it   was the very rescue of the gospel of Jesus  Christ!

Join believers all over the world as we celebrate and re-learn the lessons of
the Reformation.  The Protestant Reformation lives on because the gospel is  once again  needing rescue from error.  Take a stand for the gospel, for the sake  of generations to come!
Learn the essential truths of the Bible that the Reformation  uncovered.    Video-based classes will be offered this fall with several different  options on day and time and men's, women's, and co-ed.   [email protected]

Children's Ministry
by Shelley McDaid

It's hard to believe summer is halfway over! We've been having lots of fun in Children's Ministry this summer!  Sunday mornings we have been studying about the parables of Jesus, and  Wednesday nights we have been learning about the early church from the book of Acts. We'd love to see all the children join us when they are in town this summer!

I'm really looking forward to Missions Camp this weekend at Twin Oaks Ranch! I'm thankful for the adults we have coming to chaperone, and I'm excited to spend time exploring the camp with the kids. If you have campers that would like to attend, please contact me! Aaron will be teaching about William Cameron Townsend, the founder of Wycliffe Bible Translators.

I am starting to look at our fall lineup for  Sunday morning classes and  Wednesday night AWANA club.
If you are feeling led to serve in either of these areas, I'd love to talk to you. We love our volunteers and will provide a lot of support and training!
We will be having an AWANA information and training lunch for all returning and new volunteers after church on  Sunday, August 13th .
Discipleship
by Pastor David

A movement that began 500 years ago saved the gospel from grave error.  And that movement goes on because the gospel still needs rescuing.

We celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation this fall with a video-based class that will be offered on different days and times.  If the gospel is to be effectively rescued and passed on the the next generation we need to learn the core elements of the Reformation which support the gospel.

Do you have the courage to be  Protestant in its original meaning?  Are you willing to be a rebel against the forces that seek to dismantle or hide the gospel from a world that desperately needs it?
HHSM at Snowbird

Students and chaperones arrived at Snowbird, in North Carolina, safely on Monday afternoon! Pray for students to experience Christ in a new way that ignites their love for Him!
From Pastor Aaron

I
've been so greatly encouraged by those who have gathered to pray before our services each Sunday at 9:15am in the resource center hallway. As we circle up to pray for every aspect of our services: the music, the prayers, the scripture reading, the sermon, the singing of the congregation - my heart is reminded that all we are doing is not in service to me and my preferences but to the Lord and His will. As we pray for the guests who walk through our doors, I'm reminded to seek for opportunities to show God's hospitality. As we pray together, I find my heart drawn closer to the Lord and to His people here at HHBC.

As the Lord leads and as you have opportunity, I hope you'll join us.

Prayer Updates

Our Students are at Camp Snowbird in Andrews, North Carolina this week. Pray the students would see the enormity of God's love for them in Christ and grow in their love of the Lord and one another. Pray for Greg and our adult sponsors who are investing into the lives of our students this week.

On Friday our 1st-6th graders will arrive at Twin Oaks Ranch in Buda for Kids Missions Camp. As the kids hear the story of William Cameron Townsend's life, pray their love for the nations would increase. I pray every year the Lord would call some of these children to take the good news of Jesus Christ to the nations as missionaries. Pray for our adult sponsors as they seek to encourage our children to live a life on mission.

Pastor David and his family are on vacation this week. Pray for their time to be filled with laughter and rest. Thank the Lord for David's watchful care over our souls here at HHBC.

Continue to pray for James Wilkes as he awaits decisions regarding treatment of bone marrow cancer while in the rehab center in Luling. Pray James would tangibly experience the nearness of the Lord through calls and visits from the Lord's people. Pray for doctors to have wisdom and insight as they recommend a treatment protocol for James.
