SHREVE, OHIO -- David L. Corell, 70, passed away at Autumnwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rittman, on Friday, September, 1 2017, following a lengthy illness.

David was born Feb., 4, 1947, in Moorehaven, Fla.   He was a graduate of Wadsworth High School class of 1965.   On Dec. 26, 1965, he married Linda Hohn;  the couple made Wadsworth their home and raised three children.

From 1967 to 1969, David honorably served his country and the Army Airborn division, trained as a paratrooper and stationed in Germany.  Also, in 1969, he graduated from the Akron police academy.  David then became a detective for the City of Akron police department before his retirement in 1988.

After retirement David owned and operated Corell Construction Co. Inc.. There, David's true passion were his Belgian draft horses, which led him to purchase and create Stoney Ridge Farm, originating in Wadsworth and then relocating the farm to Shreve in 1998.   You could find him morning, noon or night cleaning the barn to perfection with his grandson, Jake.   He found great joy in working and making it the treasure it became.

David was a member of the FOP #7 and the Belgian Breeders Assoc.

Surviving in addition to his wife;  are three children, Maria (Jack) Mosshammer of Toronto, Canada,  Dan (Kelli) Corell and children,  Delaney and Callhaghan, Jenny (Nate) Lowery and their children, Jake, Cade and Lane all of Shreve; four siblings, Larry (Penny) Corell of Florida,  Barbara (Lynn) Knox of Georgia,  Laree Corell (Roy) Shulman and Wes (Holly) Corell Jr. both of North Ccrolina.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Anne (Lyons) Corell and a sister Jeannie Corell Brown.

A gathering for family and friends will be held Tuesday, Sep. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Schlabach Funeral Home, Shreve, OH.   Private family interment will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, in Rittman at the convenience of the family.   Online condolences can be shared with the family at schlabachfh.com.
