Update from the Search Committee!

Our first deadline for receiving names of possible candidates was late June but since the response was not overwhelming, we decided to extend the deadline to August. Once that deadline passes we will receive the names of the candidates that the diocese thinks will be a good fit for us. Then the interviewing part starts!  So stay tuned.
Peace,
Becky Maki
Chair, Search Committee
ROSIE'S DAY AT THE BEACH
A big THANK YOU goes out to everyone who helped provide another terrific day for our friends from Rosie's Place! The efforts of those who volunteered to set-up, cook, serve and clean-up, along with the donations of food, resources and items for the boutique were greatly appreciated. Such a wonderful event wouldn't be possible without the support of so many. Our St. Andrew's family is amazing!
Summer Service Music
If you would like to provide music for a summer Sunday service in July or August, please contact Carole in the office.
FRIENDLY VISITORS

A visit, a prayer, a kind word and a smile mean so much. Would you be interested making occasional visits to parishioners who are shut-in and unable to come to Church? Please get in touch with Deacon Liz at [email protected] to learn how you can become part of this important ministry to members of our congregation.

The Shawl Ministry members will be gathering the first Sunday of each month following service to talk and work on shawls.  All are welcome. Prayer shawls will be given to members of St. Andrew's who are going through a difficult time as a reminder of God's love and of our prayers.  If you would like to join this ministry group, contact Rev. Jan at [email protected].

This is a  GREAT FAMILY ACTIVITY as everyone can lend a hand! Duties include watering (if not provided by the Good Lord),light weeding as necessary, and harvesting the ripe veggies later in the season. We will also need a volunteer or two to drop the harvested veggies at the Hanover Food Pantry each week. If you have any questions, give Carole a call in the office. We thank you all in advance for supporting this community project that benefits us all.
ONGOING WAYS YOU CAN BE A PART OF ST. ANDREWS:

Being a part of a Church Family means there is always room to be involved and lend a hand. Here are some ways you can lend your time or talent to St. Andrew's this fall:

ACOLYTES: Anyone in grade 2 and up (YES! this includes ADULTS!)  can  serve as an Acolyte. If you or your child would like to serve as an Acolyte, please contact Gary Innes to see what dates are available. Remember, children who serve as Acolytes also attend Church School, so they won't miss out on the fun!

ALTAR GUILD: The Altar Guild is actively looking for new members to join our ministry. Altar Guild is responsible for the care and setting of the altar each Sunday including all special services for holidays, weddings, baptisms and funerals. The Altar Guild operates with teams of four to five members who are on duty for a month several times throughout the year. During that month, it requires an individual time commitment of about 1-2 hours which includes setting up ahead of and cleaning up after services. New members work closely with experienced members until they are comfortable with the care of the altar on their own.  Please contact the office if you are interested in becoming a member.  We would love to have you join us!

COFFEE HOUR FELLOWSHIP:  A cookie, a cup of coffee, and a smile can go a long way!  The coffee will already be on, so the hard part is done! Grab a friend or two and help keep this special time of fellowship going.  If you are interested in hosting an upcoming Coffee Hour, please call or email Carole in the office for available dates.

LAY READERS / CHALICE BEARERS The role of the
Lay Ministry in our parish  life is to represent the lay fellowship of Christ during ou worship services... either reading Bible passages, leading prayers, distributing the wine, and occasionally acting as acolyte, when necessary. We'd love to have more people to read...you wouldn't need to act as Chalice Bearer or sit at the altar. We'd especially like more readers for the 8 o'clock service. Contact Karen Troupe if you're interested or have any questions at:  [email protected] .
