Don't forget to send your child with a water bottle every day to school.
If your child forgets their water bottle, they may use the water fountains or purchase a water bottle for 50 cents from the school office.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION |
|
We collect Box Tops all year long. A labeled sandwich bag will be sent home in family folders for your convenience several times a year. We raised over $1,100 last year thanks to Box Tops so keep on clipping!

| EARLY SIGN OUT |
Please refrain from signing out your children after 2 pm unless you have an appointment. The end of the day is as important as the beginning of the day, so children should stay in class.

| MEDICATIONS |
ALL MEDICATIONS brought to school must be in their original containers and labeled with a permanent marker. In addition, for medicine to be dispensed a Medicine Authorization Form must be completed in the school office.
NO MEDICATIONS should be left in student backpacks. This poses a danger to other children.

If you would like your child's name on the sign at the front entrance for their birthday, please fill out the Birthday Marquis form. The cost is $10. Forms are available at the school office.

| MAKING MAGIC/AR GOALS |
|
Students will receive a "Making Magic" slip when noticed by a teacher or staff member doing something good for another student. Those slips will be collected at the office and names will be drawn each week at chapel. Students whose names are drawn may visit the elementary or middle school treasure boxes for prizes.
Students who meet or exceed their AR Goal will have their name put in a drawing for a $5 Barnes & Noble gift card.

| DRAMA CLUB |
|
Drama club for kindergarten thru fourth grade begins on Thursday, September 7th. There is still time to register. Forms are available at the school office. The cost is $100 for a six-week session. The club meets from 3-4:30 pm on Thursdays in the Sanctuary. Feel free to contact Mrs. Ferguson (813-495-5621) with any questions.

FIELD TRIPS

|
The fifth grade class will be attending their Vigo/Alessi field trip on Friday, September 8th. If you child ordered pizza that day it will be cancelled and your account will not be charged.
The fourth grade class will be attending their Ybor City Museum/Columbia Restaurant field trip on Wednesday, September 27th. If your child ordered chicken strips that day it will be cancelled and your account will not be charged.

CHAPEL OFFERINGS
Students have chapel on Monday mornings. Pastor Dave, Pastor Steinbrueck, and Mrs. Ferguson facilitate this service. Students are encouraged to bring an offering every Monday morning. This money can be earned doing small chores at home.
Our chapel offerings for the first quarter (August 10-October 6) will be going towards the American Red Cross to assist those devasted by Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

I am so humbled by the overwhelming compassion that you, the American Red Cross community, have shown in opening your arms to support the tragedy unfolding in Texas. Over the past week, we have witnessed a catastrophe that has been historic in its severity. Our hearts reach out to the many thousands of people whose homes were in harm's way, and those who have lost everything.
Thanks to the compassion and generosity of our supporters, the Red Cross has been present in communities across the region, responding where and when people most need help.
Together we have:
- Provided safe refuge for 32,000 people in more than 230 Red Cross and partner shelters in Texas, including people affected in Louisiana;
- Served more than 180,000 meals and snacks;
- Activated 200 emergency response vehicles to bring meals, water, information and support with damage assessment;
- Positioned six kitchens capable of producing 10,000 meals a day, with six more trailers on the way.
Together we are making the difference between having nowhere to go and finding a safe, dry place to stay. For those who were without critical items, like eyeglasses, medications, and water, together we've provided a lifeline in their darkest hour.
We are so thankful for our supporters - we are making a huge difference when it is needed most.
No one should have to face this devastation alone, and thanks to our supporters, they won't have to. All of us at the Red Cross are deeply grateful for all the support.

FAMILY FOLDERS |
|
Every Thursday your Family Folder from the school office will come home. Please feel free to decorate the cover with pictures and artwork and make it your own. All school paperwork will be included in this folder to prevent a trickle of papers throughout the week. Please return the folder and its contents back to school on Friday or the following Monday so it may be sent home the following week on Thursday reloaded with materials.
In addition, if you own a small business or would like to distribute flyers for an event please stop by the office for approval to get it included in family folders. We ask that you please provide 150 copies.

YEARBOOK PHOTOS |
Students will have their yearbook picture taken on Wednesday, September 13th. We ask that all students wear their NAVY uniform shirts again for these photos. If you do not have a navy shirt we will be happy to lend them one for the photo.

Sweatshirt order forms went home in family folders. These make great gifts for siblings, aunts, uncles and grandparents too! Tuition Express is accepted.

RECYCLE BIN

FOC continues to be environmentally conscious by recycling paper.
What do we recycle?
*Clean Newspaper *Phone Books *Soft Books *Cereal Boxes *Construction Paper *Office Paper *Magazines *Mixed Paper
The bin is located at the back of the parking lot, near the soccer field.
Please help the earth while helping FOC at the same time. Proceeds from the recycle company go to our student council. Student council uses the money for pep rallies, recess equipment, and other fun items for all FOC students to enjoy.
Save the environment and help FOC earn cash!
*Last month a family over-loaded the cardboard recycling bin with Ballard Design boxes. The bin was left open and all the recycling got wet and is now unusable. If you recycle, please do not over stuff the bin and keep the lid closed. *
RECYCLE YOUR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
* Turn in your used printer cartridges to Family of Christ. Run your own business or work at a company that doesn't recycle printer cartridges? Help us earn money by turning in used inkjet and laser cartridges.
* We are in need of Windows 7 and higher computers and laptops. If you are upgrading your home computers, please consider donating them to FOC.
Anything else? Older computers, laptops, printers, cell phones, etc...can be dropped off at Staples or Best Buy and they can recycle your
electronics. *** Call the store first - they may charge if you are recycling older equipment such as monitors and televisions.

THANK YOU SAFETY PATROL
Please be aware of the Safety Patrol students when you are pulling up to car line in your car. Cars should keep a safe distance from the students and obey their commands when they put out their hands for you to stop or proceed in line.
Take a moment to thank the fifth graders who are aiding our students with arrival and dismissal. Our safety patrol perform a very important job at the school.

CYBER SAFETY |
The Cyber Safety presentation for 4-8th graders will be October 4th. Fourth and fifth grade classes will have their presentation frat 9:15 am and sixth thru eighth grade classes will have their presentation and video at 10:15 am. Parents are welcome to sit and listen in the back of the sanctuary.

MORNING DROP OFF
Elementary parents please be mindful that middle school starts at 8:10 am. Middle School students are being dropped off in car line between 8 and 8:10 am and may be late for class if the car ahead of them lingers in car line. Please drop your child off closer to 8:15 am so our middle school students make it to class on time.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

Attention Parents,
Your Family of Christ PTL will be holding a General Assembly Meeting on Wednesday, September 6th at 8:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. All are welcome to join us as we discuss upcoming events for the school year. Joyce Hepscher ( [email protected]) will also be holding her Night of Knights informational meeting at this time. We have all kinds of volunteer opportunities and fun things in store for our students, so come be a part of it! PTL meetings also count toward your twenty family volunteer hours, so don't forget to log your time in the Volunteer Log. If you are unable to attend the meeting, the minutes for the meeting will be in the front of the Volunteer Log the following week. We hope to see you there!

THE OUTSIDERS
The eighth graders participated in the annual Outsiders Rumble. This activity mirrors some of the major themes in the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Students dressed up as 'greasers' or 'socs' and held a very friendly version of the rumble from the book.

SPORTS CORNER
Both the volleyball and cross country teams are working hard at practices to compete in the BCAL League. Games and meets have begun and the students are excited to represent the Knights in these competitions. Go Knights!
