Stallions in the Spotlight

Nate Stevens, class of 2020,  was selected to play 1st horn with the Masterworks Orchestra at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp this summer. The  Masterworks Orchestra  challenges advanced high school musicians with original, unedited, standard orchestral repertoire by studying and performing one major work during the 12-day session. Selection was based on a recorded audition in advance of attending.  Nate has also been recently accepted into the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra on French Horn. In addition to the local concerts throughout the year with the Youth Orchestra, Nate will travel with the Youth Orchestra to perform at Carnegie Hall next summer, 2018. Pictured is Nate after his concert at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp with the Masterworks Orchestra conductor, John Riegel.

Rising seniors Alex Foos and Jessie Julian attended Buckeye Girls State at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, OH in mid-June to learn more about government roles and responsibilities. Classmates Justin Braun, Dominic Julian, and Jackson Montoya attended Buckeye Boys State at Miami University in Oxford, OH last month as well.

Christmas in July

Every December SFD's Student Council takes the lead on an Adopt-a-Family initiative, working with the MoMM Foundation's Holiday Blessings program to help make a family's Christmas a little brighter. The MoMM Foundation (Miracle of Mom's Memory) is a Westerville based non-profit foundation that serves others in the memory of a loved one who inspired kindness. This non-profit is run by SFD alumni: Phil Callaghan '80, Cindy Callaghan Hickey '82, John Callaghan '90, Megan Rossetti Polk '05, and Nicole Rossetti '09; and in  memory of Bryan Callaghan '03.

In 2016, Holiday Blessings provided a Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter to 115 families (over 500 children) in Central Ohio and surrounding areas. This year, they are looking to serve 150+ families and the support from their Alma mater (SFD!) would be fantastic!

Night of Tradition

We are pleased to announce that this year's Night of Tradition on July 29th will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of our 1997 Division III State Championship Team.

The 1997 season provided great memories ending with an appearance in the school's third State Championship Game and achieving the school's second football State Championship with a dramatic 17-14 victory over Youngstown Chaney at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon, Ohio. We expect many players and coaches from the '97 team will be in attendance to reunite, reminisce, and celebrate!

Tickets are $35 General Admission, $15 for SFAA Members and 1997 Team Members, and $10 for Current Players.
