BIA Thank You Broadway BIA - PrideFest on Capitol Hill was a Success!

Please join us in thanking the  Broadway Business Improvement Area (BBIA)  board for stepping in to ensure that the traditional Broadway Avenue Pride Festival happened this year.  This fun and festive Capitol Hill tradition would not have happened without their contributions.

Thank you - Clean Sweep was a blast!

Thanks to everyone who participated in our annual Clean sweep event on Sunday June 4! This was our 5th year partnering with Seattle  Pridefest to kick-off Pride Month by tidying up our neighborhood.

As you can see from our  slideshow of the event, we all had a blast cleaning up Capitol Hill!

250 Volunteers gathered at Cal Anderson Park for coffee and pastries sponsored by our local  Starbucks, and donned stylish "Love Your Neighbor(hood)" t-shirts before dispersing to scrub the streets.  Big thanks to our "regular" volunteers from the   Elliot Bay Book Company  for keeping those registration lines short!

Clean Sweep teams collected PILES of trash & recycling before returning to Cal Anderson where they were treated to music by   DJ LA Kendall, Tony Burns & Kid Amiga and a free lunch on the lawn compliments of  Sizzle PieNufloursCentral Co -Op and the  Capitol Hill Farmers Market. Thanks to  Recology Cleanscapes and  Republic Services for hauling our bags of trash and recycling away, event volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly, and our hard-working Clean Sweep teams - see you next year!

We would like to highlight our generous Sponsors whose contributions helped make Clean Sweep happen:

Thanks to everyone who pitched in to make Community Care Day a success!  This was our second year partnering with local services providers to offer free haircuts, health care, discounted transit passes and care packages to the community after the Clean Sweep event in Cal Anderson Park.

Thanks to the team of professional stylists and barbers that took over the park shelter house to give free hair cuts, basic stylings, and shampoos - around 30 in total - and our Outreach partner at DSA for coordinating the haircuts again this year!

We want to thank the volunteers from  Orca LiftCountry Doctor Swedish Medical CenterLifelong Aids Alliance for graciously providing their time, services and care kits. Thanks also to  Kaiser Permanente, Community Lunch, and the  Dental Shoppe for your in-kind contributions to the care packages.
