Quotes of the Month:

"Aroo! Aroo!"
Trainer Talk

A good habit is just as difficult to maintain as a bad habit, thereby making it just as easy as a bad habit.
And yet - revamping your habits - starting a new, healthy, "good" habit always seems so difficult!  Why?
Short and sweet?  Because it's new.  It's not a habit yet.  Is it REALLY harder to eat healthier at home, or are you just not yet in the habit of knowing what veggies to pair with which meat?  Could it be that you are simply uneducated in which stores to get what?  Once you set up your habit, any habit - good or bad - is quite manageable, and many would say even easy.
Do not deny yourself the opportunity to learn enough that a healthy habit becomes just as easy as your run-to-a-fast-food-joint.  Your body, your mind, your health deserve the effort.
As for unhealthy habits themselves, many are grounded in an underlying desire.  For example: eating a snack (read: sweet treat) while chatting with coworkers on your work break before or after lunch.  Typically the real motivator in this is not the snack/treat, but the comradeship with your coworkers.

"AROO!"
Last year, C-FIT Studio geared up and got addicted to the SPARTAN RACE obstacle courses.  It is the definition of a fun, challenging, life-altering experience with like-minded people.
Since March 2016, C-FIT has participated in several Spartan Races as a group and has recently begun a new class - Spartan Training on Saturday mornings ($10/class) - to help people SPARTAN UP!
Ever wanted to know what your body can do?  Join us and the rest of the C-FIT Warriors on their next course!  We do several a year.  Don't know if you can do it?  Well, we think you can.  As they say: "You'll know at the finish line."

From Maxwell Nutrition: Jean's Journal

Jess is hijacking Jean's Journal this month!

The above is a standard photo of what I normally eat for breakfast.  It's usually about 3 eggs, a host of veggies, the occasional bacon (life's short - eat the bacon. Yar!), but what I want to point out are the beans - a "recipe" I got from one of our long-time clients Brooke!

Needed:
1 can cannelini (or great northern) beans
Salt
Pepper
Garlic powder

Rinse and pat-dry the beans.  Put them dry into a skillet with above spices and cook on medium-high until skins get crispy.

Excellent with breakfast or as an after-workout snack!

Replacing toast or hash browns with these beans are a great way to sneak in some extra fiber, protein, and even some carbs (read: energy) without spiking the blood sugar.

Try the beans.  They're fabulous.

DID YOU KNOW...?

...that your one cookie will NOT make you unhealthy, fat, obese, or give you blood sugar issues.

But several cookies will.

...just like one salad will not make you lose fat, gain muscle tone, improve your mood, sleep, and decrease anxiety and improve your sense of self.

But several salads will.

There's no shortcut to good health or fat loss.  Consistency and frequency and discipline are the only ways.
