Hello Shipmates,

June just flew by -- five trips with wonderful people and lots of adventures aboard the Great Windship Heritage.

We had a fun time at the Schooner Gam. This year's raft-up included 6 schooners, five of them hailing from Rockland.   It's always exciting to watch as one by one each schooner slides up next to its neighbor and the crews aboard both vessels scurry to make off lines.

Last week we headed southwest.  Tuesday evening we had dinner with the Cabbage Island Clambake folks in East Boothbay.  Wow!, what a delicious traditional New England meal the Moore family puts on for those joining them. Wednesday we were one of a dozen or so vessels participating in a parade of sail into popular Boothbay Harbor. With a fairly large population of boats either anchored, or on moorings, threading our way to our anchorage is always exciting.

Thanks to Carol Douglas for the photo

This week we're enjoying lovely summer weather on Penobscot Bay.  Thursday evening we and a dozen other windjammers will gather in Gilkey's Harbor off Islesboro in anticipation of Friday's Great Schooner Race to Rockland. Will this be the year we win again?

Between the events there have been plenty of days filled with sailing and enjoying the beauty of the coastline.  Last week Captain Linda caught the lovely sunset from back by the wheel.

A few evenings Ben, our mate, and Sean, the cook, have pulled out their guitars and had an impromptu concert in the galley.

If you've been thinking of sailing, we still have cabins available on many of  the cruises.  We'd love to have you join us.
