Invite*Welcome*Connect and its creator Mary Parmer are coming to the Brandywine Deanery, September 15th-17th, 2017 for "Empowering the Laity." Join in a deanery plenary gathering for clergy and lay leaders involved with evangelism and hospitality. The gathering on Friday, September 15th at St. John's, Concord is a deanery event beginning at 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with an informal, meet and greet with Mary where she describes the next day's workshop, and fields any questions regarding the ministry.

On Saturday, September 16th, Mary will be offering her full, one-day workshop on Invite*Welcome*Connect at St. James', Downingtown. Members of the laity from the Diocese are encouraged to attend to learn about all aspects of church hospitality, congregational growth and retention of long-standing members.

The day's events begins at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude by 3:30 p.m. Registration and check-in will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The day will start with introductions at 9:30 a.m. sharp. The cost of the workshop is $20.00 per person, which includes a catered lunch at St. James'. Sponsoring parishes within the deanery will be offered ten (10) complimentary tickets for Saturday's workshop. Mary Parmer will conclude her weekend offering in the deanery while preaching Sunday morning, September 17th at Episcopal Church of the Trinity, Coatesville at their 9:30 a.m. Eucharistic service. T he Church of St. John the Evangelist, 16 W. 3rd St. Essington, is proud to announce its first ever Designer Bag Bingo on Saturday, August 19, 2017. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and games begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Tickets include 2 bingo cards for a total of 10 Bingo games, with each game prize being a bag valued at up to $400.

Designers such as Michael Kors, Coach, Kate Spade, Vera Bradley and Dooney and Bourke! We will also have additional cards, food and raffle tickets for sale.

This event is BYOB, and for participants 21 and over. Due to the limited number of tickets available, we ask that tickets be paid for in advance, and cannot hold tickets at the door without payment. If available, tickets will be sold at the door for $30.00. We expect this event to sell out, so purchase your tickets early. The  Chester Children's Chorus , under the direction of John Alston, will present a concert at  St. Paul's Episcopal Church , 301 E. Ninth St., Chester, PA, on  September 9 at 7 p.m.

A joint venture of St. Paul's and Chester Eastside, Inc., the concert will feature both traditional and contemporary works. There is no charge for the performance, although a free-will offering will benefit Chester Eastside.

Church of the Holy Spirit, Harleysville will hold a Celtic Healing Services at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 24. Weather permitting it will be held outside on the church labyrinth, or it will be held indoors in inclement weather. The Celtic style service includes music, meditation and prayers of supplication, thanksgiving and commitment to care for the earth. Private prayer and hands-on healing (Reiki) will also be available.

Vacation Bible School at  St. Thomas' Church, Whitemarsh . Calling all pre-school-5th grade children. This year's VBS will be August 21-25th and the theme will be "Hero Central".

Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Chestnut Hill is Collecting Donations for its Annual Rummage Sale! Collection occurs in the Parish Hall at Saint Paul's Church, located at 22. E Chestnut Hill Ave., Philadelphia PA, 19118. Drop-off times are Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. until noon and 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Items can also be dropped off on Sunday mornings between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The final drop-off day will be Wednesday, August 30th. A tax letter is available upon request for those contributing goods to the sale.
 
The Rummage Sale itself will take place on Saturday, September 9th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Admission is $2 at the door. In addition to the Saturday Sale, a Rummage Pre-Sale event will be held the night before. 

On Friday, September 8th, from 6 until 9 p.m., shoppers can peruse and buy items in all departments. Light snacks and drinks will be served, and admission is just $15 at the door. The net proceeds the sale each year are distributed in the form of outreach grants to non-profit organizations fighting hunger and homelessness in our area. Some of these organizations include: Aid for Friends, Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels, Interfaith Hospitality Network, and Face to Face in Germantown.
