August 16th, 1941 was the birthdate of Vivan Stromberg, a founder and later the executive director of Madre, an aid and human rights organization that supports women's groups around the world.

Madre, which has directed about $34 million in humanitarian aid to its various projects, often concentrates on addressing problems of survival, but with the goal of developing leaders who can then press for women's rights.

AT THE SYNAGOGUE

SummerSpritz 2017 was a joyous celebration of community!
In a gorgeous setting, more than 75 members imbibed a range of spritzes, sampled a bounteous array of bruschette, cheeses and olives, and enjoyed each other's company. A very good time was had by all.

To those who came to celebrate, to the Program Committee who planned the evening, and especially to Linda and David Ziskind, our most gracious and generous hosts, grazie mille.
