DROP-OFF REMINDER
We will be strictly enforcing our school drop-off policy this year! Please note that drop-off begins at
7:45am
. Parents are not allowed to leave their children at school drop-off zones until 7:45am
when a designated carpool attendant is present. This applies to both the front door and East door drop-off zones. School doors will not open until 7:45am. Please have your child wait in your car with you until 7:45am. We want to ensure student safety! If you need to drop your child off earlier, please reach out to our Explorers Club Director, Shea-Leah Addenbrooke, to inquire about our Before Care program. Thank you so much for your cooperation!

SOLAR ECLIPSE
Dear World Compass Academy families,
Last Friday, you may have received an email from the DCSD Risk Management Office regarding safe viewing for an eclipse. The email stated that plans were underway to ensure that students can experience the eclipse.
We want to clarify a few things for students at World Compass Academy:
-
As a school, we will not be releasing our student body to view the eclipse unless their teacher has made previous arrangements. Those participating will have the opportunity to view the eclipse at various stages. Parents are welcome to check their student(s) out in order to view the eclipse on your own.
-
Please note: The eclipse will begin in Castle Rock at 10:19am and end at 1:09pm, which occurs during our recess/lunch period. The best viewing window will be around 11:40am. For safety reasons, we will have indoor recess.
-
We will monitor the students who are participating and ensure that they have the proper eclipse-viewing safety glasses. Please help us by educating your student on how they can view the eclipse. There are a number of resources online, and many of those resources were included in the email you received from the district.
We cannot provide glasses for all students, but they are welcome to bring their own.
Additionally, these links have great information about the eclipse, safety, myths and legends, and links where you can watch the total eclipse online. Enjoy!
We hope this helps answer questions parents may have, and clarify how the school is proceeding regarding the eclipse.
Thanks for joining us for a great start of the 2017-2018
school year!
