PATH Intl. Award and Scholarship Winners
Congratulations with balloons A big congratulations to all the winners and nominees!
Award Winners
Every year, PATH Intl. has the great honor of recognizing the outstanding humans and equines in equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT). Nominated by PATH Intl. Centers and Members, the very best equestrians, credentialed professionals, veterinarians, volunteers and equines serving at PATH Intl. Member Centers are chosen by expert industry judges. It is a difficult decision to choose from the many excellent nominations, and we thank the judges for their time. Thank you to all the nominators for their dedication in recognizing the achievements of those in EAAT. This year, more than 220 humans and equines were nominated, demonstrating once again the high quality of service PATH Intl. Member Centers offer.

We are pleased to announce the 2017 PATH Intl. regional and equestrian award winners. Click here to see the list.

All award winners will be recognized and the national winners announced at the 2017 PATH Intl. Awards Luncheon, November 10, in San Antonio, TX.

Scholarship Recipients
PATH Intl. works diligently to obtain funding sources to ensure the maximum opportunity to underwrite registration scholarships for the PATH Intl. Conference and Annual Meeting. Donors and sponsors give generously to make these opportunities available to the greatest number of people.

Thank you to our donors and sponsors who make these scholarships possible. A special thank you goes to the family of the recently deceased Pat Mullins, a long-time supporter and past president of PATH Intl. His family requested that donations be made in his honor to the PATH Intl. Pat and Jackie Mullins International Conference Scholarship Fund. Since his passing the association has received more than $5,000 to help continue his legacy. This generosity has enabled the association to grant more scholarships this year than was anticipated. Click here to donate now.

Grab your cowboy boots and join us for the excellent education sessions and networking at the 2017 PATH Intl. Conference and Annual Meeting , November 8-11, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas! This conference, presented by title sponsor Purina, is the premier event in equine-assisted activities and therapies, and we are excited about the excellent educational sessions the conference offers (50 sessions divided into five tracks).

According to data gathered from more than 8,000 members and 877 member centers, many PATH Intl. members have not been able to attend the annual conference; it just hasn't been affordable for many. We listened, streamlining many activities and implementing several changes to reduce costs. We are thrilled to announce that the conference registration fee of $450 is the lowest it has been in a decade!

Community Connections Corner
Community Connections banner This month's featured Community Connections post is addressed to the Instructor Community where a member asks:

We have a large warehouse that has potential to be an indoor arena for therapeutic riding - no posts/beams in the center. The floor right now is concrete. Any ideas as to the best (and most economical) type of footing to put on top of the concrete to make it safe? And how deep? Also, it currently has a dropped ceiling, but it is still quite high. How much space should there be between floor and ceiling? This is just for walk/trot - no jumping. I would like to know if others have had experience with this type of conversion and how it went?

If you have any advice to help this member, please click here to log in to Community Connections and join the discussion.

Equine Tips From the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee
How Much Weight Can My Horse Carry?
By Molly Sweeney, Member of the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee

I have researched this question extensively, as I believe it is intricately involved with the number of hours a horse can work without stress and the workload a horse can handle without harm. The goal is to avoid burnout, but more importantly to work with a happy horse. Read more

NOTE: We are planning an interactive presentation on this topic at the PATH Intl. Conference and Annual Meeting in San Antonio in November and look forward to sharing ideas and information with the PATH Intl. Community.
