Las Vegas Pro-Am Details Finalized

Registration is now open for the 2017 National Car Rental Las Vegas Pro Am presented by Colorado Golf and Turf! The event will be played Monday-Wednesday, November 11-13, 2017, at the Paiute Golf Resort. Entry into the event includes two nights stay at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, transportation to and from the golf course daily, breakfast prior to each round of the event and more fun games and contests than ever before!

The entry fee is $3,900 per team ($975 per Amateur, $0 per Professional). This event utilized 5-person teams -- 4 amateurs and 1 professional.

2017 Colorado PGA Award Winners to be Announced

The August issue of Pro Peaks, which will be released next week, will announce the winners of the 2017 Colorado PGA Awards. Join the Colorado Section in congratulating this exceptional professionals.
Thefts Reported at Boulder/Larimer County Golf Courses

Deputies received reports of vehicle trespasses at the Fort Collins County Club and the Ptarmigan County Club on July 7 and July 13. Two vehicles were unlawfully entered at each location on each day between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Large special events were taking place at the Fort Collins County Club during these times. Credit cards and cash were stolen from the vehicles and there were no signs of obvious forced entry.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call Deputy Spencer Colby at 970-498-5539 or Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868 where you will remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward.
Teaching and Coaching Workshop Announced for September 21, 2017

The Education Committee is happy to announce the creation of the Colorado PGA Fall Teaching and Coaching Workshop. This one-day, hands-on workshop will feature some of the best instructors in the Colorado Section sharing their insights into the game in a 30 minute Ted-Talks style presentation.

Opportunities Still Available to Volunteer for Drive, Chip and Putt Local and Sub-Regional Qualifiers

As we are now within one year of the MSR deadline, we want to remind you that we have a number of Drive, Chip and Putt volunteer opportunities that members can take advantage of. Opportunities to volunteer are available at the following events:

July 31, 2017 -  Colorado National Golf Club
 
August 2, 2017 -  The Club at Flying Horse

August 12, 2017 - CommonGround Golf Course

August 19, 2017 - Walnut Creek Golf Preserve 

Volunteer opportunities begin at 7:00am for each event and run until approximately 4:00 pm. You may volunteer for any portion of the event. One MSR point can be earned for every hour of volunteering.

The West Chapter Stroke Play Championship is coming up on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Eagle Ranch Golf Course. The event is open to all Colorado PGA members and apprentices in good standing.

Witczak Records First Win at Club at Pradera Pro Am

Jason Witczak, PGA Director of Instruction at the Club at Pradera won the Club at Pradera Pro Am after carding a five-under-par 67 at his home club.  Scott Hart, PGA Life Member finished in second place, one stroke back at four-under-par 68.

Dan Sniffin, PGA Director of Instruction at the Omni Interlocken Golf Club led his team to victory in the Low Gross/Low Net Shamble.

Afternoon Spots Still Available at the Eisenhower Golf Club

More than a dozen spots are still available in the afternoon shotgun start at the Eisenhower Golf Club Pro Am set for Monday, August 8, 2017. The format for the team competition is a One Low Gross/One Low Net event. The deadline to register for the event is Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 11:59am.

Match Play Championship - POD Play Deadline Monday, July 31

Results are coming in daily for the 2017 Match Play Championship as the round robin match play round is nearing an end on Monday, July 31. For those of you that have completed matches but not reported your match results, please be sure to send them to Justin Limon, PGA ([email protected]) as soon as possible.

The Club at Ravenna Set to Host the Colorado PGA Women's Championship -- Registration Deadline Set for Aug. 16, 2016
 
The Colorado PGA's Women's Championship will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 22-23, at The Golf Club at Ravenna. The championship is open to all female PGA and LPGA members in good standing whom reside or work within the Colorado Section boundaries.

2017 Colorado PGA Professional Championship -- Registration Deadline Aug. 23

Registration is now open for the 2017 Colorado PGA Professional Championship set for the Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club, September 11-13, 2017.  The event is open to call Class A Members as well as members classified as Life Member Active and Life Member Master Professional Active. The entry fee for the event is $250.  The deadline to register is
August 23, 2017.

PGA of America Forms Strategic Alliance to Develop PGA Academies in South Korea

The PGA of America has formed a groundbreaking strategic alliance with Lake Hills Resorts Group, one of the largest multi-course owners and operators in South Korea, to create PGA of America Academies in the country. The agreement marks the first-ever international facility licensing partnership for the PGA, as its looks to support the global growth of the game.

The PGA of America's annual CBS Sports Special, "Road to the PGA Championship," relates several players' inspirational stories leading into next month's 99th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The 2017 PGA Fashion and Demo Experience is being held Aug. 14-16 at the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino, Las Veges.

The two Colora dans -- Guy Mertz and John Olive --  who qualified on Monday at Colorado Springs Country Club for the U.S. Senior Amateur will certainly take interesting stories to the national championship.

Huge Music Festival's Contract will get an Extra Week of Scrutiny from Denver City Council

Neighbors of Overland Park Golf Course had plenty to say  Monday about a proposed five-year contract with a major festival producer for a new three-day event each September, but Denver City Council members said they needed more time to decide the issue.
Back for Seconds

Kaye claimed the $100,000 first prize to win the Colorado Open; 21-years after his first. His eight-birdie 6-under-par 66 in the final round led to a 23-under total.  And Kaye needed all 23 of those to get a victory without a playoff. Fellow Coloradan Jacob Lestishen, of Lone Tree, made it a horse race down the stretch after it looked like Kaye might run away with the title. Lestishen played holes 11-15 in an amazing 6 under par, going birdie, birdie, birdie, 20-yard chip-in eagle, birdie to tie the two-time PGA Tour winner.

Privately Owned Park Hill Golf Club is Looking at an Uncertain Future

Denver natives may even be surprised by at least one of these tidbits. 1) Park Hill Golf Club is not a city-owned golf course and 2)  Clayton Early Learning owns Park Hill Golf Club.  Park Hill Golf Club, two miles away from city-owned City Park Golf Course, has an uncertain future.

TPC Colorado course plans linked up perfectly

A year after breaking ground, the TPC Colorado golf course in northwest Berthoud is quickly take shape. And for someone who has been involved with the project for nearly three years now, seeing the course come to life is the next best thing to making a hole-in-one.
Hale Irwin would be 'Pleasantly Surprised' if John Elway Qualified for the 2018 Senior Open

Hale Irwin  knows all about switching from the gridiron to the greens, so when he heard John Elway might try to qualify for the U.S. Senior Open next year, he just shook his head.  "Good luck. He'd better throw some tight spirals, I'm telling you," Irwin cracked Tuesday at the tournament's launch party at The Broadmoor.

2017 Boys Junior PGA Championship Field List

The 42nd Boys Junior PGA Championship will be played July 31-August 3 at The Country Club of St. Albans Lewis & Clark Course in St. Albans, Missouri. 134 players will be competing in this year's tournament including two from Colorado -- Davis Bryant from Aurora and Dillon Stewart from Fort Collins.

For the third time, Eaglecrest senior-to-be Davis Bryant and recent Regis Jesuit grad Jaclyn Murray will represent Colorado prep golf on the largest stage.

Coloradans Fall Short of Match Play at U.S. Girls' Junior as Murray Posts Best CO Finish

A year ago, no Colorado residents qualified for the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.  This year, two Coloradans made the 156-player field, plus a Nebraskan who is a member of the Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado. But taking the next step -- advancing to the 64-person match-play bracket -- proved too high of a hurdle this week.
