Main Street Businesses Prepare for One-Year Anniversary of Flood

The Ellicott City Partnership has organized a Flood Anniversary Commemoration weekend to honor the losses and celebrate the triumphs that came from the July 30, 2016 Ellicott City Flood.

There will be a series of events throughout the weekend to allow people to remember the three lives lost, celebrate the resiliency of the community and thank people who volunteered during the recovery and continue to patronize the businesses on Main Street.

Four Major Flood Mitigation Projects for Ellicott City Announced

We are just a couple of days away from the one-year anniversary of the deadly and devastating flood in Old Ellicott City, but County Executive Allan Kittleman wants people to know, that four major flood mitigation projects are in the works and the county is looking for partners at the state and national level to support the efforts. 

New Initiative Focused on Strengthening Columbia's Village Centers

Businesses in Columbia's Village Centers are about to get some additional help from the County.  The Columbia Village Centers Retail Development Program is launching to focus on retaining current businesses, recruiting complimentary businesses and assisting with branding, promotion and events.

The initiative comes out of a need identified in the Columbia Market Study, sponsored by Columbia Association, the Howard County Economic Development Authority and Howard County Department of Planning and Zoning.

Howard County Restaurant Weeks Are Here!

Howard County's Summer Restaurant Week kicked off Monday and 29 restaurants, including plenty of Chamber members, are offering special menus to celebrate. The 2017 Summer Restaurant Weeks end August 7th.

Katie Fry Hester is Running for Maryland State Senate in District 9

No additional candidates have joined the race for Howard County Council this week, but Democrat Katie Fry Hester has registered with the State Board of Elections in the race for Maryland State Senate, District 9. ELTA Chooses Howard County for New Cyber Innovation Center

ELTA North America, already headquartered in Annapolis Junction, is adding a Cyber Innovation Center to their Howard County location as a result of negotiations during Governor Larry Hogan's 2016 Trade Mission.

ELTA North America held it's grand opening at the new headquarters in Annapolis Junction in May when they also announced plans to add 50 new jobs.
MBE Program Goals & Subgoals Discussion Sessions

The Governor's Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs is hosting two public discussion sessions to get input from businesses about the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Program's goals. A survey can also be taken online.
