AK Steel has signed an agreement to acquire Precision Partners Holding Co., a North American automotive market company that provides engineering, tooling, die design and hot- and cold-stamped steel parts, for $360 million in cash. 

Precision Partners is headquartered in Ontario, Canada, and employs more than 1,000 employees, including about 300 engineers and skilled tool makers, across eight plants in Ontario, Alabama and Kentucky.

SkyVue Apartments, the new 14-story apartment project built on former Allegheny County Health Department property near the heart of Oakland, has been quietly sold as part of a $1.6 billion portfolio deal, according to an announcement.

Mapletree Investments, a Singapore-based real estate investment firm, announced last month that it has bought a collection of eight student housing properties and four apartment buildings in a deal that includes more than 3,750 beds of student housing and 1,388 apartments. .. Read More.

Detroit-based law firm Clark Hill PLC on Thursday announced plans to combine with Morris Polich & Purdy LLP, effective July 17, building its western presence. Clark Hill has operated in Pittsburgh since spring 2013, when it combined with Thorp Reed & Armstrong LLP, then the city's eighth-largest law firm.

If Rob Bowman has his way, his company's Hastings development in South Fayette will draw home buyers who are reminded of their childhood hometowns, or perhaps the kind of place they always wanted to live.

Charter Homes & Neighborhoods, which has offices in Lancaster and Pittsburgh, will break ground this month on the first of 500 homes to be built on 80 acres that once housed Mayview State Hospital. Six people have reserved spots after touring the construction site, and the first occupants could move in by year's end, says Bowman, president of Charter.

TechShop Inc., a network of open-access makerspaces, announced "positive developments" in the effort to transfer TechShop Pittsburgh to a new owner and keep the location open, though it did not disclose specifics of a deal Thursday.

"We have been working closely with a number of Pittsburgh stakeholders and foundations eager to participate on some level in keeping TechShop Pittsburgh open for years to come as a licensed location," said TechShop CEO  Dan Woods in a statement. Delta Airlines announced Thursday that it'll launch a new nonstop service option for flights traveling between Boston and Pittsburgh starting Oct. 1.
