Dear Parish Pro-Life Coordinators,
The summer is quickly giving way to the fall. Before we welcome the cooler weather, we have a few great opportunities for your parish this month.
On August 12, I hope you all will join Bishop Greg Kelly, Fr. Josef Vollmer-König and Fr. Jason Cargo for the third annual
Remembrance Mass for Children
at 10:30 a.m. at the
St. Patrick in Dallas
. During the Mass there will be a special blessing for parents of children lost by miscarriage, stillbirth or abortion or for any other reason after birth.
If you have not already, please let your parish priests and deacons know about the FREE Pastoral Healing Seminar on August 18 at St. Monica's Family Life Center
. The seminar will feature presentations by clergy, professional counselors and retreat graduates on a variety of topics related to reproductive loss. Registration is open through August 11 at
www.prolifedallas.org/conference
.
Clergy may also invite a lay leader as their guest (and separate registrant)
.
As we look ahead, be sure to register for these big events in September, and spread the word in your parish bulletins!
And be sure to save the date for our first-ever
This bilingual Mass will be the

Finally, as we close out a special legislative session in Austin and debates continue in Washington D.C. about critical life issues, it's important to remember that, as Catholics, we should perceive no distinction between defending human life and promoting the dignity of the human person.
"The Church forcefully maintains this link between life ethics and social ethics, fully aware that society lacks solid foundations when, on the one hand, it asserts values such as the dignity of the person, justice and peace, but then, on the other hand, radically acts to the contrary by allowing or tolerating a variety of ways in which human life is devalued and violated, especially where it is weak or marginalized.'" (Pope Benedict XVI, Caritas in Veritate, no. 15).
The U.S. Bishops expound on this teaching:
"As a gift from God, every human life is sacred from conception until natural death. The life and dignity of every person must be respected and protected at every stage and in every condition. The right to life is the first and most fundamental principle of human rights that leads Catholics to actively work for a world of greater respect for human life and greater commitment to justice and peace."
Let us each one of us bring this message to the world that surrounds us.
Thanks for all you do for life
!
God bless,
David Carr CPLC Director of Parish Coordination
