Member Benefit: The Buddy Program
The Buddy Program was developed as a way of formalizing the relationship between new members and veteran members. The program offers a structured setting in which to develop beneficial one-on-one relationships between members. Acting as a friend, a teacher, and a guide to the real world, buddies have the opportunity to encourage and advise new members by sharing their own experiences and knowledge of the HR profession and the PHRA.

The purpose of this program is to:
  • Familiarize new members with the member benefits of the PHRA and the events held by the PHRA
  • Identify long-term professional development needs and how the PHRA can help with these needs
  • Realize the value of networking
  • Develop a meaningful professional relationship

PHRA Members Give Back! Volunteer Day 2017
We want to extend a huge thank you to the
Freestore 15104 and all of the
amazing PHRA volunteers who came out to bring a dilapidated park back to life on Friday, August 11!

PHRA volunteers, with the aid of the Freestore and community volunteers, spent the day mowing grass, weed whacking, trimming, scrubbing, and painting the overgrown Washington Street Park in Braddock, PA. Not long after the park's incredible transformation was it finally enjoyed by neighborhood kids! In addition to their landscaping and painting, PHRA volunteers also collected packages of diapers to donate to the Freestore.

The Freestore 15104 is a nonprofit organization located in Braddock, PA. Aimed at combating poverty, the Freestore receives donated goods such as clothes, shoes, food, and toys, and redistributes them to members of the community free of charge. The Freestore is a fantastic organization and we consider ourselves incredibly lucky have had the opportunity to work side-by-side once again!

See pictures of the group and the results of their hard work below!
